Irminsul wrote:GA I think you pretty well nailed it. Constantine did try the ol purge, more than once. And his anti-pagan crusades weren't the end of it. I would cite the Spanish Inqisition, and the Burning Times (witch trials) as a real witch killin' ho-down too.
And you know the weird thing? More than half of those murdered in the Burning Times were not even Pagan. They were innocents in the wrong place at the wrong time, in the path of some political nutcase carrying a Bible and witch "poker", putting people to death, and making off with their property and their money (Oh yeah, the whole thing was a scam. "fighting evil" had zero to do with it.).
Anyway thanks for your comments, GA. Dang dude, you are so much more with it than I was at your age.
See, had a feeling I was right on the money right there. Thanks for the compliment, Irminsul.
No, throughout history it seems religion dominates hate. Now in our age we see factions of the Muslim religion going into convulsions and killing people, but I repeat myself, "factions." It is the factions of the Muslim faith that have twisted its peaceful ways to make it into something evil. As far as Christianity goes, tons of hypocrisy there too. Look, it is in every religion, Jewish, Catholic, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Pagan, Bhuddist, etc... That's life. I think it is up to us to discern at some point or another what is to be followed and what is not, so many lies in religion.
I do not support hate, I do not support stupidity, I do not support violence, I do not support imposing your faith upon others (As I have said many times by now), I do not support lying, I do not support anything in the wave of corruption. As far as I am concerned "God Shall Add" is driving me nuts with his "I am sorry" on one hand and then his "You are all going to Hell" on the other. As I said before, the Christian religion seems to have this series of never ending hypocrisies these days. I am not saying others do not, but it just seems more prevalent in that specific religion lately (No clue why, perhaps due to heavy media coverage and historic representations). So to come and say "Jesus said..." is a bunch of junk because if people really love Jesus then they would not preach any form of hate or dictation upon their fellow man.
Jesus was about peace and harmony, not hate and telling people "You do not pray to me you are going to Hell." In fact, I have something fascinating to share on that note. Back in 1945 in Nag Hamadi, Egypt, ancient documents were found, they were the "Judas Gospel." These documents stated that Judas never betrayed Christ, that he was the only one who actually understood his true message. Now we can see where that can become severely controversial, but it goes on with one extremely pertinent statement I would like to uphold, according to these documents Jesus said:
"The Kingdom of God is inside you, and all around you, not in mansions of wood and stone. Split a piece of wood... and I am there, lift a stone... and you will find me. "
That is very very prophetic and sounds like the true Jesus. Now I am not saying that Judas was not a sinner who killed his Lord, I am just saying that statement sounds like the true Jesus as I would picture him. So for all of you who say you have to go to church to praise him, you have to pay tithes of 10% or you are an abomination to God, you have to try and convert people and tell them to go to Hell, you are nothing but dense.
Tithing is appropriate at times because churches need financial support, but no person should be forced to tithe based on the grounds they are going to Hell. What if you cannot afford it? Yeah, God would not want you to die for his church, God would want you to just be a good person and survive, and learn from life, and find a way to right the wrongs you have made in your life - whether that be through prayer or good deeds, or both.
Jesus was a good man, prophet from that portion of his life, prophet from his wisdom. If you are a Christian, preach the peace he would want you to, not this illogical seed of hate that you are spreading throughout the world that everyone goes to Hell who does not adhere to "The Church." Whether it be with the Vatican (Sometimes called "The Church") or with just a regular church. You know where I am coming from.
Peace out to everyone and their religion, and their God. Let everyone believe what they wish to, but not impose it on others nor hate thy brethren.
