I've seen both Alice in Chains and Yes with their new vocalists, in many ways they are superior to the original singers while retaining all of the aspects that were prized in the original guys. There are so many tribute acts these days that a singer can be replaced far easier than in the old days.

If it was just up to me I would have fired him after the third incident. I got a message on fb from him today, saying that he had messed up the day he thought we were supposed to rehearse. My question is, if four us can remember, why not him? I will keep him around and use him until I can replace him. End of story.

This situation is what got my last band SUED for breach of contract. It was a Corporate show, paying big money, with Corporate lawyers.

Bass player no showed.
Me and the drummer, staring at an empty space.

We got fired, an emergency DJ got called in. (i should have brought my DJ gear.)
Cost us a lot of money.
Our travel
Paying the DJ (part of the lawsuit)
Refunding the retainer

etc.......

Dump his ass.

If the other members of the band can sing, then sing.
A month or 2 of vocal lessons can go a long way to help someone who can "almost" sing

This is the value of backing tracks
If someone no-shows, they can be replaced by a pre-recorded version of themselves
If it's the singer, lip sync if you have to.

Yes I'm a very firm member of "The show must go on" club.[/u]

Well, the guy who subbed in Yes a few years ago (and blew out his vocal cords) could hit all the notes, but he didn't have Jon Anderson's vibe. I have skipped the most-recent version of the band.

Taking on a contract like that, without checking the reliability of the members is a bit risky, I would think. That contract sounds lopsided... I mean, what would have happened id somebody had been killed on the way to the show? WOuld they still sue?
YOu guys should have had your own lawyer on this before signing anything.

IMHO...

And yes, i understand that it appeared lucrative. Let me put this another way... I'll pay you 1 million dollars (Canadian) , but you are not allowed to breathe more than 4 breathes per minute, and no p- breaks allowed...until the event is over and completed....
YOu see my point?
I'm saying those lawyers set you guys up to fail.

That's a really simplistic view; Normally I'd shrug my shoulders and think that you're an idiot

Do you really think that a Band that regularly uses contracts wouldn't have them vetted by our own legal?

Really?

We weren't some drunk assclowns playing in the local dive for 200 bucks. This was a well established band that was regularly booked in Casino's and corporate parties.

we showed more than George did.

Pull your head out of your ass to think that if someone dies we'd still get sued.
We Canadians laugh at Americans for that kind of legal bullcrap.

We were in breach, and got sued.
That's why I don't play in bands anymore, Only use backing tracks. I'd only hire guys from the Musicians Union Local if I need them.

That way I'm protected, And have backing tracks on standby.

Oh, I'm sorry Did I offend you with my questions...? Apparently you 'ass-clowns' had your dumb-asses sued, despite how vetted you f u c k i n g morons thought you were.. Hint: Fire your lawyer, you fat little moose turd. Actually, its not like your music is worth a legal effort. If you had a brain you wouldn't be in that predicament to begin with, you idiot. I'm thinking now that you were set up by the dude, cause based on your socially retarded response to my post, he must of thought yo were an asshole. You should be sued for impersonating a musician. Now go back to your log cabin and tell Paul Bunyan to stop laying timber on your mother ..I have much respect for Canada, and I send her my condolences for having a gay butt pirate like you as one of her citizens. Go toss off, you fromage leftover.
