I watch a lot of those home renovation shows, but I never saw them mention the tv in the mirror! My uncle has flat screens in all of his bathrooms, but in the mirror.

Yeah John, this was an area of the mirror they didn't put the reflective stuff on the glass and it had a tv. It also had it's own remote control device!

Wonder if those things have a camera on them!

Imagine sitting on the toilet eating cheetos watching the ball game, not a pretty picture!

I don't want just enough.
I want the whole enchilada. House paid off. No debt. Discretionary income.
More than enough dividend income. Medical issues under control.
Pension and 401k. Retired and waiting for 671/2 years old for SS.

Its possible.

If you make over 27,000 a year, raise your hand.
If you have your own 'house', raise your hand.
If your doing a job in a profession that you wanted to do a job in, raise your hand.

Notice I didn't raise my hand, so quit bitching.

If you have a mortgage (I do) you don't own the house, the bank does. They just let you live there and maintain the place while you give them $$$ every month. But yes on the other two.

Naw I own my house according to the title but I did use a bank to leverage my purchase at a ridiculously low rate. If I really screw up and fail to honor the loan they will call the loan and be forced to foreclose on my agreed collateral. The ball is in my court.

Yes on all three.

I will consider it mine when I make the last payment. Until then it's glorified leasing.

So you make over 27, you "have" or own a house and you work where
you want to.

1. Can you afford the level of medical insurance you will really need in the future
when you are old? (things medicare wont pay for)
2. Do you have substantial savings?

3. If you work til 70 to get full SS will your employer let you?

4. Will you have to sell everything to take care of your spouse if
their health fails and needs assisted care? (you probably know someone this
has happened to)

5. Do you have a 401k , Pension or other source of retirement income?

6. Do you realize you probably need between $1.5 to $2 million to realisticly live
a comfortable worry free retirement. (or you'll probably do without things and
have to work again)

These are just a few concerns that are in YOUR future.
What do you think?

Yes, but a catastrophic illness can wipe anyone out.

2. Do you have substantial savings?

Substantial? That's subjective, I'll go with 'some'.

3. If you work til 70 to get full SS will your employer let you?

The owner of my company is 84 and still working. It's not uncommon for people to work 40 years or more here. So yes.

4. Will you have to sell everything to take care of your spouse if
their health fails and needs assisted care? (you probably know someone this has happened to)

Hopefully not.

5. Do you have a 401k , Pension or other source of retirement income?

I have an IRA, a 401k and a small pension from a divorce.

6. Do you realize you probably need between $1.5 to $2 million to realisticly live a comfortable worry free retirement. (or you'll probably do without things and have to work again)

What me worry?

Several trash bags of empty beer bottles is not considered a substantial savings Haley.
