my mom so far is out $30.00 because when she reloaded her arch card on Saturday Morning January 12th, 2013 the employee either accidentally or maliciously made an operator error and it did not register the $30.00 balance but instead stated my mom had used up the balance in purchases, MY MOM DID NOT CHECK HER RECEIPT ON THE 12th of Jan., my mom is old and goes there every Saturday AM for a breakfast sandwich, when she returned a week later(following Sat.) and tried to use her arch card, she had no positive balance.. my mom is partially to blame for not checking the receipt, but there are new employees almost daily (high turnover) and it makes you wonder about the motives about the employee who pulled this stunt on my mom.. if mom would have caught the mistake, I'm sure the grunt would of said, "oh, I'm sorry my mistake".. I am trying like hell to contact the owner of that particular McDonald's a Mr. Blumenstock but can't get nothing but an answering machine.. this makes me sick ..I never trust a McDonalds worker

The fast food business is as corrupt as they get.

The Burger King I worked at would get a heads up before the health inspector came, who of course never noticed the roaches.

My mom got a burger at Wendy's once with a live big green caterpillar on it.
The manager told her they were just picking them off the lettuce and must have missed one.

My girlfriend was a manager at Taco Bell for a lot of years.
I'm sure she knows a lot of shady sh!t that happens too.

How did she pay? If she paid with a debit or credit card she has some proof. If she paid with cash she's probably out of luck.

cash.. that is what upsets me so much, why would she load up an arch card with cash? and I never reload arch cards, I simply get a new one.. but I have not had an arch card for years, I personally only buy from the dollar menu like McDoubles and value fries..she absolutely will not get a puter and get on the internet.. I said to her, march right in there and point out the employee to the manager and confront the employee, but mom does not reason sometimes so well in my opinion, she is going the route of waiting for a call back from McDonalds headquarters cause she did call the McDonalds hotline number you use for complaints.. Mr. Blumenstock had an unlisted number but I found it after looking on the internet for some time..

mom got real mad at me this morning on the phone after I told her I am going all over the internet telling about her "encounter" .. I said I can not get in trouble as long as I only publish the truth and not lies.. she told me to stop publishing on internet forums or she will stop getting me boxes at wallyworld early Sat. mornings in which I use to ship my merchandise I sell on the web..

Foolish to use those cards anyway. Why give the corporation your money up front? You're not getting anything from it. Prepay today for a burger or french fries you MAY get in 2 weeks? Duh.

believe it or not Mike, I started the whole thing with an arch card gifted to my mom as a Birthday present last March..guess that's why I am subconsciously pissed at myself..

talking about working your ass off for pennies..get hired at a fast food joint.. I personally think all fast food workers have a grudge and are always looking for an opportunity to spit on a customer's food.. I am so glad I have my own business and the dignity that goes along with running a profitable business..

Dane,

Sorry your mom has to put up with this bullshit....

Here's some possible remedy: Keep in mind, you must maintain a willingness to work with the guy, once he buckles.

Write a letter to that dick head , explain the following:

Dear <Insert Dickhead's name here>

I have made reasonable attempts to contact you about a credit error <re> ...

Since you are not responding, I am left to assume that you are either not aware of the problem which I attempted to convey, or you simply have no intention to bring this problem to a satisfactory resolution.

I am left with no choice then, but to prepare the following actions, in order to resolve this issue. In this order:

1) I intend to contact the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and report your store, ( including performance details, Health Inspection audits and the current situation.

2) I intend to contact and notify F.B.I Division (Senior citizen fraud) in conjunction with your local news media, to release a story of the current situation, and I will report and explain to the FBI, on camera, why I believe your store has abused and taken advantage of a senior citizen.

3) I will notify your executive management/ Public relations officers to inform them of my intention to release a press statement about your organizations mis-treatment of a senior citizen.

4) I will notify the Internal Revenue Service To file an amendment and ask them to audit your store's books for suspected fraud.

5) I Will contact an attorney to file for the cost of any subsequent litigation and damages, which may arise from this matter.

If you are unable to respond within 2 business days of receiving this letter, I will proceed with the aforementioned actions.

Regards,

xxxx

thanks Paper, will keep this in mind.. I can't believe how easy it was for the McD crew present this past Saturday to sway my mom there was nothing they could do for her.. mind you, I was not there Saturday the 19th and only found out about it Sunday.. I told mom have them look in their computer records the receipt on the Jan. 12th, I would think it would have to be itemized with the $30.00 spent, broken down into so many pancakes, coffees, mcMuffins etc. I really need to drive into Bolivar and see the receipts my mom has in her wallet and go from there..

Call corporate. They will give you money or certificates or something.

I tried to go to a McD's one night at 9:30, they were supposed to be open until 10pm.. Doors all locked. I needed to eat and was on the road- I went to the drive thru, and they said drive thru closed too.

I wrote an email to corporate. A regional manager called me back, said he checked the surveilence video and lo-and-behold there I was at 9:30 yanking on the door.. He also got to see me peel out from the drive-thru in style.

He apologized for my frustration and sent me a buttload of free meal tickets.
Win.

Another time, I bought a bag of ruffles off the store shelf , one of those .99 cent grab-bags, the chips were so stale that they were soft.. disgusting. I wrote an email and complained, they emailed me back asking for the code off the bag.. which I did happen to save, and they sent me an apology letter and two coupons for two free FAMILY SIZE bags. Win.

Take the time to complain, they would rather you complain to their corporate offices than on web sites. None of them want additional bad press these days.

Can't hurt to try management. Doesn't always work.
I got some italian style chicken sausages a couple of weeks ago -packaged by a big local meat packaging place.
They tasted so heavy of anise (like licorice) I couldnt' eat them. I wrote an email to the company, included the package info (if I still had the store receipt I woudl have gone back there wiht it). Never heard anything back.

Dane - sorry it started with the card you bought your mom. Next time, take her out to a nice dinner somewhere instead.

I found that going to the store manager often times resolves nothing, causes more frustrations, and there have been times that they "tip off" corporate management that some "irate customer" was out of line.. so when you do complain, they treat you like the problem.

Nope, I smile and leave or do a burnout from the drive thru in style. Complain later :P
