Exactly the opposite Mike. Too many musicians sitting in a corner now, waiting for someone else to make magic happen. Maybe better to get off the couch or the floor and go make some music that will be remembered.

Yes, Europe is coming online. The 80s are still wildly popular there and the age of an artist isn't as big an issue. As the world gets smaller and the USA shrinks in global influence under the current Administration, Europe will keep rising.

I've recently started working to help a Polish superstar break out in America. We've got one of the all-time great songwriters and producers involved, and the musicians she has engaged on this are the absolute best on the planet.

He's got a few english tracks on soundcloud at https://soundcloud.com/mietekmusic
and a lot of stuff on youtube in Polish.

Yet I'm a little worried because it's not "fast food" music. It's timeless artistry of deep songwriting and production skills being performed by amazing musicians....but the singer is in his 40s and everyone says that can't be done.

Guess we'll find out soon enough...

Well, maybe there should be a bandmix Europe then. I seem to share tastes with people that live in places like Italy (and Argentina).

I said this before...There will never be another 'Beatles, Dylan, Hendrix..." becuse quite frankly, there will never be the kind of audiences they experienced. Nobody gets excited anymore... Like Lennon said once: "The dream is over'
AMEN BROTHER.

I was thinking about something else on this topic yesterday....

It used to be that making (or listening to) an album was a conceptual journey, but since the early 90s it has become only a collection of disconnected songs.

That in itself would lend to songs only being commercial products as opposed to an artistic statement of lasting value.

Glenny, I'm about to be all over NY/Long Island. Would love to see you and Gwen again.

i dont like the music today for couple reasons...

1. Dubstep... what the hell is this racket?!?! it gives me a headache, but i guess if you were tripping on something you would enjoy it?

2. Rap/the new Pop... the words are too fast to comprehend and when i do hear i word i hear the F-Bomb or something, and for the new pop its VERY well.. Poppy, i guess it never changed but now they are infusing rap and pop?? i cant wait until the Industry finds a better pair for "Pop".

& last but not least

3. Lip Syncing & Entertainment > Real Talent On Stage... Where Are The Good Sounding Singers When We Need Them.. SHEESH! The Only "Singer" i actually like that from 90's - today is P!NK, her music is great! i just wish she did less on stage and showed everyone her talent, shes abit bulky looking yes, but her voice is T-E-R-R-I-F-I-C!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

this is why i like bands like Collective Soul, Depeche Mode, INXS, U2 etc. like that due to their skill on stage, their moving music & just the rock outness these guys have still! - i would buy Gary Numan tickets this time around if i were y'all and i would go and listen to him, hes AMAZING live and i cant wait until he comes around in the U.S.

but of course this is my opinion on the matters, people have their own opinions and i have my own.

Wait. You are from Georgia and there is nothing happening in you rmusic scene?

Sevendust just released an album that just put your state back on the map for the hard rock charts.

This has to be a fake profile to reference Dubstep that was so 2001.

like Peg, this profile gives me the bad "vibes" lol

Nice try Sherlock, maybe getting yourself a Deerstalker hat would help

From Wikipedia,
"Throughout 2010, the presence of dubstep in the pop charts was notable, with "I Need Air" by Magnetic Man reaching number 10 in the UK singles chart. This presented a turning point in the popularity of mainstream dubstep amongst UK listeners as it was placed on rotation on BBC Radio 1. "Katy On a Mission" by Katy B (produced by Benga) followed, debuting at number 5 in the UK singles chart, and stayed in the top 10 for five more weeks. Also in 2010, American producer Skrillex achieved moderate commercial success in North America with a dubstep-influenced sound. By 2011 his EP Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites had peaked at number three on the U.S.Billboard Dance/Electronic album charts. In February 2011, Chase & Status's second album No More Idols reached No.2 in the UK album chart. On 1 May 2011, Nero's third single "Guilt" from their album reached number 8 in the Official UK Singles Chart. DJ Fresh and Nero both had number one singles in 2011 with "Louder" and "Promises"

As I grew a little older and became interested in a wider variety of musical genres, and better aware of their historical developments, I began to more fully appreciate the dismay and despair my parents and many of their generation must have experienced as they witnessed the lush, smooth, full, sophistication of the Big Band sound swiftly surrendering the pop charts to groups of a few teenagers screaming over amplified guitars.
