Jimmy Danger's First Rule For A Happy Life: Avoid all 'isms'. You don't need to belong to a chess club just to play chess.

I hate that christians view muslims the way they do- muslim religion is no more violent and intolerant than Christianity. The spanish inquisition more or less proves it, if not the crusades. Modern day is no different, just less bloodshed with god's name attached- now we call it "spreading democracy".

Kramer, I think you are confusing Religion, and Culture.

Christianity does not condone, support or foster the behaviors that the Spanish inquisitors and Crusaders practiced (Regarding violence).
Christianity does not condemn races, cultures, societies on earth (But some of the Judeo factions did..i.e Old Testament was replete with God Sponsored decimation.

Likewise, Islam in and of itself does not condone, support or foster tthe behaviors of the 911 rat-pack.

However, I will say the primary difference is that ISLAM insists that its children die for Allah, whereas Christ insists on dying for the children.

You can tear up Christians all you want if that makes you feel superior... But I think your perception about modern world (and old world) is extremely limited. Just saying...

yeah...

if my great great great grandfather was one of those who tortured people in the name of religion, I suppose I would not condone it either.

Doesn't mean I'm not connected to it.

Pope after pope still refuse to acknowledge many abuses of the church, include the current one, claiming that dealing with priest raping kids is "complicated", and apparently best just to shovel it under the rug.

Atrocities have been committed in the name of almost every religion in existence.

Christianity isn't really a religion, as much as an ideal, so I mis-spoke using that term, whereas I should have used Catholic, Baptist, etc.. but figured it was easier to lump them together, since amerika seems to also feel that's appropriate (and these evangelicals LOVE to promote 'christianity')...

Empty?
Cut out religion and you make room for everything else.
Love
Happiness
Birds
Trees
Sunshine
Jello
We still have the whole universe.
And the universe is plenty for us.

Good point Zip. Without science we would just be primates clinging to the trees.

In all Fairness, Jeff, Many people do use religion as a type of crutch, to excuse their own flaws or redirect the attention away from their own imperfect existence. They are not necessarily Christian, despite their claims. Some folks use religion as a weapon, to justify atrocity and control over people. They too are not true Christians. Kramer, as with so many other folks, are just tired of the hypocracy that clearly flows from abusers of religion.

I'm trying to present a real and honest dimension of and I'm trying to disassociate from false Christianity, zealous obstinance and such. Christianity is first and foremost the gateway of true individual priesthood, solvent in a relationship with the son of God. Many will never buy into it...But you wont catch me killing them about it.

A lot of Christians are only semi-literate in their own theolody which drives me nearly crazy.

Telling unbelievers they are sinners is a losers game. A lady told me once she figured I'd become a Christian becuase I didn't want to go to hell. What she didn't get was that before I became a Believer I didn't believe any of it.

And it is not our gig to fuss with unbelievers. I'm was surprised to find that I am accused of 'hating muslims.' Why would I? Their religion is essentially a slighty twisted version of early Talmudic Judaism. i think it is a mess but i also reckon it's not my business. I can't hate people very easily - Christ died for all.

For unvarnished 'basic' Christianity. I recommend my own Wisconsin Synod Lutherans. We really home on the fundamentals and we certainly don't advertise as the 'church that is against' the 'sin du jour.' We are simply a church that is 'For Christ.'
