I think that you are missing the points that Glen is trying to make. We all have our M.O's even you. Why even the Great Black Messiah ... lie stating you will never ... then ay you will never sign it ... then sign it and say you will never use it ... then ??? In other words ... LIES, constant unabashed LIES. The "government" is not the real legitimate government of the U.S. It is illegally concieved, put into place and criminally illegitimate. This all by it's own actions ... readily seen in plain view to us all. It is a "foreign Imposter, a Cancer, a growing and fast expanding Tyranny yet still you persist to continue to attempt to defend this "Bastard Government" and it's minions, activities and intentions ? You ally yourself with the political filth and corporate scum that soldier it ? One might ask why.
You attempt to do this only with critical and seemingly rational thought which in fact is imprisoned within the "box" of PR (lies) that are put into place by the "Great Pretenders" themselves. Glen and I and others understand that reality is not bounded by the confines of the web...and not at all a "university like debate". It is flesh and blood and evil and tyranny and Freedom and indeed a for keeps contest and one of pure survival... for you ... for us ... for anyone.
The time is well past for the seemingly hypothetical logic you employ. I respect you and your opinions and willingness to express them and face adversity but you can not employ Napoleonic Tactics when you have no Empire or empirical armie ... you can only employ guerilla tactics to be effective. There is a real parallel here which I hope you can at least acknowledge.
Glen is trying desperately to rattle your cage ... your box and obliterate it so you can see "for miles and miles" but this can never happen without your permission. Glen does not insult himself as he shows in his own way that he cares. Your research is good and backed up but consider the sources as they are far too restricted to allow... Freedom ... Free Thinking ... Free Conclusions.
Of course you make your own choices for you and your family. I just point out that Glen is not what he seems ... he is much more and very empathetic and caring. We are all almost out of time now. Sometime this Spring there will most probably be Civil War in the U.S. You must make the "strategic" decisions at this for it is the last moment to do so. The next moment will be only defensive, desperate and tactical decision at best. Each hour options die forever.
It is as if we are all but tiny grains of sand and approaching the narrow neck of the Hour Glass ... fast moving ...irressitable ... falling. I urge you and everyone for their own sake and that of those they Love to widen perspectives. Widen sources beyond the controlled web. That is all.
I wholly disagree. There's far too much infrastructure and community in the USA for a social collapse, at least in the near-future. Pure civil war is easily 10 years out, possibly 5 if several worst case scenarios play out, but that is unlikely, as political process in this country is slow, even in cases of dire need of swiftness (Katrina, fiscal cliff..).
Regardless, my sources are generally wiki, factcheck.org, and yes, at times alternet, but generally only to point out factual logic or to make points that can be easily proven.
You are mistaken that Glenn is attempting to 'widen my horizons', as he is only pushing his agenda and personal feelings (as we all are), but refusing to see any other perspective as an option or even credible. If we cannot act like civilized human beings, we have collectively taken this country back 100 years, and might as well welcome the next hitler, as there would be nothing here worth fighting for...
No .. people like gell WANT the wild west.. they've lived their lives having to be civilized and as we all can see from his "passion", that he would happily put a cap in the first arse that gets in his way. He cannot wait for society to break down. These are the people who are truly dangerous to society.
So we have a bunch of liars and crooks running the country. Reign them in, and they will in turn reign in the corporations. It's really simple.. It's happened before, and a strong labor movement (including strikes and protests) will change it. Politicians still react to public pressure, the only problem is that public pressure has waned dramatically since the great depression (yes, it's a fact, easily backed up), and put simply, we fell asleep at the wheel (society / we the people), and now have to work that much harder to fix the wrongs, but we've done it before, and will do it again.
At times, I let things get to me and feel that same apathy and depression about the future. But, screw that, it's just not going to happen. I've been listening all my life to these whackos telling us to buy guns and get ready for society to fail, but it just isn't going to happen anytime soon. I've always considered myself a free thinker, not a boxed product. I view all articles with cynicism and scrutiny, regardless of their source. I trust sources on a per-item basis, that can provide cites to verifiable information (and not opinions), although op-ed pieces can offer great insights, especially when backed up with facts, but buyer beware- never trust a news source that draws your conclusions for you (all mainstream media).
I will no longer feed glenn the troll by responding to him, he's not interested in anything but right-wing hysteria. I will limit myself to mentioning him only as an after-thought, such as this post, and eventually not at all. There's no point.
