And 1x a week use Trend Micro Free Housecall to scan your whole system.

Do the full scan, it can take a LONG time but it's very effective.

Mike, if you use these 2 your computers will thank you..try it.

I like crap cleaner. And Sonar backs up all projects in their own folder, so you can copy them to DVD or CD if they are small enough. But even if you try to keep your files safe, going on line can screw up the whole bunch of them. That means costly repair to restore them, if possible. It's just best to use a separate computer for on line. Computer shops sell refurbished dual processor laptops and netbooks for as little as $125 here.

Sonar, Cubase, Protools..whatever makes you feel rosy.

I just like Sonar 6 because it's low resource and I spent some time "suffering with it before". I know I wouldn't deal with sonar 8.5 or X1 because I'm not using a newer laptop.

(Not like you can get a copy of sonar 6 easily, but you never know. I finally did.)

And Zipper the minute you want to come over to lend a hand, you can bring whatever platform you know best. lol

"As long as it layers, they all sound pretty much the same to me".

(I just detest the technical end. If your tune sucks to begin with, you won't be able to turn that turd into a necklace regardless of what DAW you use.)

Yea and the recording laptop once loaded with your DAW, never goes online.

Ooh 125? Hmmm maybe time for me to upgrade again..at that price X1 starts to look interesting. Food for thought.

I'll get your tea..ya want a biscuit as well?

Aren't you a PRO TOOLS type fellow?

I was just looking at my friend's rig and it looks 10x as bad as my fairly heady AND complicated version of cakewalk 6.
(gulp)

I've used Cubase, Studio One, old cakewalk, garageband, and a bit of Reaper.
I would go pro tools or whatever latest Steinberg has if I were to attempt a career at it.

Studio One is the least hassle for me.
Anyone who has used Visual Studio would really like it.
