I'm surprised at the poll results, so far.
I expected most of the results to be in the middle 3 choices, not the first and last . . .
I'm wondering if that reflects also the years of experience of the players . . .
.
Interesting.

I dunno.
I've been playing in bands since 1985.
Although I often gravitate toward rock & roll, my influences have always been all over the place.

I'm actually about to begin work as a from-home studio vocalist, and I'll be willing to sing anything that comes my way, as long as they pay me for it :]

I guess Im mainly what I call a hard rock guitarist, especially in regards to my cover band.

But I have covered rock, country, gospel, blues, funk, raggae, polka (LOL!), jazz, classical.

I would like to think that I have taken little elements from all Ive ever played and kinda thrown it together in my stew pot of guitar tricks.

As far as my listening habits today, I dont stick to anyone genre, most of the time we have smooth jazz going in the house, just because it has no vocals and is background, but we jump all over the place, other than maybe show tunes, which I get my fill when Im riding with my daughter, cause she loves showtunes and opera.

I just try to soak it all in

I've had any number of people ask me what genre my CD is. I've got to come up with a simple answer that covers all possible choices!

'Post-modernistic future antiqueist'?

I have a few CDs with several widely dissimilar styles of music.
After talking with folks, I've come to the conclusion that this might be a mistake.
The suggestion was that I should instead group songs of a related style together on different CDs.
And I got to thinking about it . . . I think it might be a good idea.

Hey hey someone mention the GD ?
Yeah man .... I play in a Dead Band ..... I get to play a wide variety of genres in that context .... they have introduced me to bluegrass / 50's Blues and Country / " acid rock " / Gospel/Spirituals .....
They love Dylan and C Berry ......
They have a good mix of ballads / rockers / odd time sigs / jazzy jams ....
Its a great way to learn how to play guitar and how to play in a band context , too !
