These debates are stupid. Let's legalize rocket lanuchers, cause they really are guns.. just bigger and the bullets explode on contact.. other than that, they are arms and the 2nd amendment says you can own them.

Yeah, I'm being sarcastic.. I can't possibly have a rational discussion here, so this is where I'm at. Chew on this though- how do you think the framers (writers of the constitution) would have written the 2nd if they knew we would have the weapons we do? Keep in mind, at the time they had single-shot rifles that took 30 seconds to reload....
How do you think they would feel about that amendment, if they knew it would lead to psychopaths gunning down scores of innocent children?
I think we all know the answers.. they would have regulated that millitia through an armory and kept the guns out of the common man's hands. The 2nd amendment is outdated, plain and simple.
Imagine if we took from even more outdated fiction equally as seriously.. oh wait.. we do.. that bible.. the one that claims all kinds of crazy bullsh1t that is scientifically impossible and nothing like it ever verifiably witnessed by anyone alive... and people do crazy sh*t in it's name. How many times have I heard gun owners claiming that they would do crazy things if anyone ever repealed or crushed the 2nd...?

Our constitution guarantees the right to own weapons in order for us to be able to defend ourselves from a rogue government - our forefathers know first hand (and a whole lot better than we do), how governments can become oppressive. So much so, that they wrote into the Constitution the right to throw off the government if it rejects our "God Given Rights".
