Bands And Albums.

^"Little wing" is untouchable. I've never heard anyone do it better than Jimi. "While my guitar gently weeps" is great, but I really liked Jeff Healy's version too. And that Jake Shimabukuro Ukulele version on youtube is otherworldly awesome.

Creed's "What if" is a good song his melodies are even good but that forced, jut jaw vocal tone is enough to enrage me! I only liked the first 5 metallica albums until they came out with st anger. Bon Jovi is on my detestable list too. I was annoyed by them when they were in their heyday, but "wanted dead or alive is really amazing. Sambora is only an average guitarist, but his vox are tight on that track.

Jimi's version will always be the best, "Little Wing" was a great. I have seen Jake Shimabukuro's version of "Whilte My Guitar Gently Weeps", I was astounded too. I was like "He plays that on a Ukulele!?" Lol. That was an awesome take on it.

I was not a major fan of "Kill 'Em All," though there were some awesome songs on there. Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, And Justice For All, and the Black Album were their best. The next two, new generation sounding ones, Load an ReLoad were also good. As for the Garage albums, and stuff, I am not a fan of those. St. Anger had good riffs, but the lack of solos and totally different sound, was horrid.

I am happy you have Bon Jovi on your detestable list, lol. "Wanted Dead or Alive" was absolutely amazing, I love playing parts of it (I only know very small portions). Other than that, they can keep that band.

nirvana were and probably will always be the biggest influence on me.
as a spotty teenager i was a total "kurt" clone i dyed my hair blonde with cheap bleach and food colouring bought all my clothes in second hand stores and did just about everything i could to be like him(except do heroin)....
oh to be young agin..just for a little while.

It could be said that "Nirvana"did for rock music what "Mohammad Ali" did for boxing. "Saved the Spirit of the Sport"!

while its true that kurt wasnt the greatest guitar player, he didnt need to be.the songs themselves dont need metallica like solos(who i love by the way). but musically dave grohl i feel is a feirce drummer and one of the 10 best ever.
also, you have to stop and consider that even if a musician is extremely gifted at playing his respective instrument, it dont mean sh*t if you cant write and arrange a song. songwriting was nirvanas strenght, imo

Well put. I agree with every single point you made.

Kurt was a very good guitarist and writer and he was able to organize the songs properly. But yeah, he is definitely no Metallica, lol. That was a bit over his league, but he was definitely talented in his own right. Some of his stuff just droined on, so it annoyed me at times.

Dave Grohl is awesome, period. Lol. I cannot believe I missed the Foo Fighter concert down here, there were no tickets left, plus it is a bit of a drive from me.

It's kinda funny how some of their best songs (In my opinion, Drain You, Aneurysm, Pennyroyal Tea, On A Plain, Sappy, Radio Friendly Unit Shifter, Francis Farmer Will Have Her Revenge) were never released as singles and people hardly know about them. Don't get me wrong I love all of their singles, but even Kurt said he thought Drain You was a better song than Smells Like Teen Spirit. I also think he was underrated as a guitarist. My uncle said he saw him shred like no other one night after a show and my uncle has worked with some very talented very famous musicians. BTW Nirvana is one of my favorite bands and I usually don't say this because I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but seriously if you HATE Nirvana then you really have no respect for music. You can not like them but you can't HATE them...

My thought is basically if you don't like Nirvana you don't have a soul.

I know I have already sold one of my souls. So I can say yes, I do not like this band.
Why did they play out of tune on purpose?
I can understand not wanting to be a "product" but the fans just want the music.

I think I've listened to the "Muddy Banks at the Wishkah" album like over 400 times. That's all I need right there. So many other good songs out there, but that's all I need.

Cobain was a great songwriter. Some great tunes, and many good ones. Great rock voice.
He did have a hangup though about making stuff abrasive and offputting on purpose.
Dave Grohl is a fine drummer.
And we see now with his Foo Fighters, not without talent himself.

I agree with all of that. If everlong was the only song Dave Groel wrote he would be a huge legend to me. That song is nothing short of perfect in my book.
