Seems like everyone is just following your instructions Scotty: "Otherwise, say what you feel. I always do. Why shouldn't you?"
The recording process is messy. Stuff gets missed/lost/deleted all the time. It's just part of the process. Can't repeat a lost golden vocal harmony? Blame the singer, not the recording engineer.
Guys that have been doing this for a long time all know this only too well.
Lot's of decisions have to be made during the process. I am sure Les had a reason to do a remix after you left. Out of tune vocals perhaps?? If it is digital he probably saved that mix and just did another and liked it better. Going ape over it just makes you look foolish. Want to do another mix ? Do another mix.... oh, wait. already burned that bridge.
All this drama about lost "golden" harmonies and "magic" mixes just sounds novice and petty. It's like standing on the pier listening to that crazy old fisherman telling a story about the one that got away and blaming the tackle shop who sold him a faulty lure. If it's not in the catch locker, it didn't happen.
Learn to champion your other players and recording engineers and you will get the very best from them... or become a solo act.
Just saying what I feel Scotty. You always do.
