I've uploaded a new song... comments? criticism?

it was recorded rather quickly with an acoustic and a keyboard

"Song"

Sounds disjointed, which loses the groove. The drum track needs work, the runs don't fit the song. The main groove of the beginning melody is kind of cool.

"Who Says"

I think this one has some potential. It was painful listening to, because of the line buzz you got going on, but I could hear enough to tell that the verses have potential. You need a refrain and chorus to keep it interesting, and I think it would be a good song.

"Song"
This was kinda cool.
Here's some suggestions.
> clean up the 'dirty distortion,' so that what you play comes through more clearly.
> w/o vocals, this is kind of repetitious; I'd suggest halving the repetitions. If you play something 4 times: just play it twice. If you already play it twice - just play it once.
But, still, it's kind of a cool song: I like the style.
.
"Who Says" Sorry, man, I just couldn't listen to it with that noise that comes and goes.

Jayvocgr,
I would suggest reducing the instrumentation to guitar only. A good song idea should still hold up with just voice and guitar, and be more listenable. As Craig aluded to, more care should be taker in the recording process. In my opinion, your song writing skills show promise, so "Keep 'Em Coming"!

thanks for the listens, two very different styles

the acoustic song was recorded on the computer, the noise that you're hearing is the microphone (when the jack is in all the way, the mic doesn't work, but when it is put in loosely it works but there is a noise)... vocally I was going for a warm folkish sound, I'm more of an R&B inspired singer though, but the nerves kicked in when I was recording the vocals and sounds shakey in some spots

FYI that sounds like you plugged a mono mic into a stereo jack. That will cause that static situation. You can either get an adapter, mixer, or a stereo mic to remedy that problem. Looking forward to our next uploads. Good luck.
