vinny, i've seen those plastic Mac's go for as little as $200. i think ya need one!

That Paris Swing is a beauty ... with 28 frets to the top you will be getting high aright! I know your guitar playing is good enough Planetguy ... but are you sure you have played enough poker, smoked enough cigarettes, and drank enough whiskey to handle one of those?

I've wondered what difference in tone the resonators for those guitars would have made. Besides the buzz. Looks like it might have boosted the low end a bit, like a bass port in a speaker cab?

$200 that's still too much! .. but if I stretched some rubber bands between the two f-holes under the strings, and left the guitar to sit near the heater overnight maybe it would look like more like a Selmer in the morning.

I can't believe you get a rosewood sides and body for that low of price! I thought they used rosewood in old parlor guitars from the 1800's? LOL

Ok ... I think this beautiful instrument has found a good home with a certainly worthy picker. :D ( "picker" here being a double entendre for a guitar player as well as a savvy buyer)

i'm often not the sharpest knife in the drawer but if there was any slight, back handed compliment, or insult from vinny ( which i sincerely doubt) it went sailing right over my head.

actually the comments regarding imbibing, card playing, etc had me crackin' up....and considering whether or not to grow a pencil thin moustache. 8)

i suspect you're referring to the "shelf like" resonator that was found in the inside? i've never had the op to play one or hear one but i know that many times people have them removed.

yeah, i suspect they would add some low end.....dunno about "buzz" since that wouldn't be very desirable but really...neither would increased low end cos those gtrs are all about "cut". maybe that's why they end up getting removed.

That's sounded like a slap to me and for all i know, that's a very nice sounding (gulp) acoustic guitar.

I have always, since the 1970's when I first saw pictures and heard Django's music, loved the look of the Selmer "Gypsy" guitars. Though I had thought for a long time that the one's with the larger holes where for the rhythm players while Django would have a Selmer with the small hole playing lead .. but that was probably just due to the small hole model being the latest, and so Django being the star got one first?

Anyways I was only jesting as the f-hole guitar pictured here is made of molded styrene so it could easily be deformed by some heat, though doubtful that the results would match the symmetries and craftsmanship of the original. The ineptness of the suggestion was aspiring toward a sort of ironic humor. 8)

rgr that, Vinny..

My one buddy is an acoustic prig and if I said anything to him like that, he'd attack me with whatever he was holding at the time.

(he's got a lot of gusto for a 5'2" guy, but he can play an acoustic guitar well.) lol

nah, no worries. knowing where it was coming from (vinny) i had no doubts that he was just joking around.

vinny, you're kinda correct about the large D shaped soundhole (grande bouche/big mouth) originally being adopted by the rhythm gtrsts and the smaller oval holes (pet bouche/small mouth) being used by the lead players. the former are slightly warmer and have a little better bass response.... and they are a little better at spreading the sound around.

these days the lines are more blurred and lots of players use the two styles interchangeably.

andreas olberg is a good example of someone who usually uses the D hole for both duties when playing gypsy jazz.
