Aw, what an ungrateful attitude .. tsk tsk .. hey, I would have let you swallow it all like usual, JCP61, but you had convinced me that you really needed a "facial"!

Gilmore is magnificently non- wanky, in particular note his skill with the trem -bar to bend note with a flowing melodic continuity ... instead of gratuitous whammy-wank cliches.

You have to really know how to play guitar to make it here in Nashville, it's no place for wankers!

Never cared much for the Who. They were sloppy even if they weren't drunk (like Led Zepplin was)

Keith Moon was the most over-rated busy drummer ever. Meter didn't matter.

If not for Daltrey they were less than average. They had a few good songs but not worth the ticket price, imo.

I liked a few hits.
Never liked Roger Daltry.
Hate rock operas.

But, smashing the gear onstage was nice! 8)

Really? "Live at Leeds" is one of the best live albums ever. I loved to watch Moon, he just looked so damned happy when he played.

I find you to be intelligent and always able to at least give an answer for what you believe, so I'd bet we agree on a lot of things...just not much that comes up here evidently.

ughh...he drives me nuts. He always had to fill every single dang space in a song with a cymbal.

I like music with a groove. It's gotta breathe.

English rock was always my favorite but the Who wasn't based on American blues and skiffle like all the rest of them. I mean, they were better than listening to Perry Como.

I loved the rock opera Tommy though, because of Clapton and Tina Turner's scenes. Probably the only musical I've ever sat all the way through.

Yod

I was no Who fan but happened to see them on a bill with Zep. Quite a show - they simply wailed for nearly 3 hours. I was utterly stunned by the bass and by the energy of the band.

Didn't care for most of their albums really, with of course, the exception of Live at Leeds - for my money one of the top live albums every recorded.

Since I often have worked three piece when playing bass I lean toward players like Entwhistle and Jack Bruce.

Playing guitar is quite a trip for me - listening to someone else play bass is taking some getting used to.

The Who, Led Zep et al is A# 1 in my book.
(How do you deny them when you say you like music with a groove?)
(sour face)

And the only part of Gilmour I don't like is his use of the trem.

Someone told me once that the only people that use the trem are the ones that can't play it with their hands alone and I basically took my trem bar off and sank my trem to the bottom.

Now I would never even consider using it. It's redundant..why bother?

Matter of fact, I prefer a hard tail over anything else at this point.
It stays in tune and there is absolutely no need for the "cheater stick".
