Neck issues.

Pick up an ES339

It won't cost you a dime to just feel her up and see how you like it.

I don't have the info to compare the GIBSON vs the EPIPHONE version.

Outside the price point anyways,.

If thats the style of body you like there are a few that i have played in past years. As someone stated a true les paul is great but i have played some epiphones that play just as good. I have a LTD les paul style body that plays great. But what you want to consider is what type of music your playing and the type of hardware that is best for you . Check out your local music store for more info as to what your looking for.

Ever hear of Xaviere guitars? I hadn't before, but a couple of guys who have them are raving - considering the basic prices. Of course made in China, so they almost always need a good set up when you get one.

The LP models are supposed to be as good as, or better than Epiphones.
I'm really jonesing for one of the hollowbody XV-950 models!

I am more curious if an Epiphone Les Paul can feel & sound as good as a Gibson.

I just bought a new Les Paul Traditional Pro Gold Top. I never cared for the fat necks on most of the newer Les Paul's but the Traditional Pro has a thinner neck that feels just right. I've always been a strat man but this new Pro plays and feels great.

That guitar is called 'The Fool', and has quite a history:

I have a 2007 Epiphone Alpine White Les Paul Custom that I put in some new sprauge 22mf caps, some ( 16.9k ohms) Dragon Fire Alnico 5 Gold Vintage Screamer pickups with a Schaller tailpiece with fine tuners.
This guitar is one mean guitar when pumped but the ( 8.6k ohms) neck pickup also gives a nice Classic Duane Allman tone to boot. I have a friend with a 1974 Gib Les Paul Custom, he really likes my Epi too !!!! :D

An Epi is not a Gibson, they just favor.

I have to agree here.

Though any guitar can be skinned out gutted and hot rodded . . . if were talking store stock . . . the Gibson just sound fuller to my ear.

I'm sure it is quite by intent from a factory / sales perspective.
