What is this word? Tunesmith to me means a song writer that may or may not be a great singer or the best musician. Some how they have the ability to Craft a song that at its very core digs down into the essence of your soul. Their songs communicate to you on a spiritual level. these are a few of mine!

Not Billy Preston... That pianist was a band member or a studio player...But interestingly enough... The piano for that song (Morning has Broken) was composed by Rick Wakeman (of YES) .. Who performed it in Cat Steven's recording of the song

Cat Steven's pianist was Jean Alain Roussel.

I've been doing "Sitting" for years. I also cover "Hard-Headed Woman" and "Wild World".

It has nothing to do with performance ability/talent necessarily. It just means someone whose main focus is crafting songs. Usually they are someone who can make a tune out of any topic.

In the classic sense of the word tunesmith implies a writer of melodic tune with artistic lyrics that provoke some kind of thoughtful or emotional response.

Tunesmiths can be amazing in using their imagination to write on any topic, because that's what they really focus on. For example Wendy Waldman; a liberal jewish girl living in Hollywood and yet wrote "The Cowboy Rides Away" for George Straight in Texas.

Can't get much more country than that...
