The point is we aren't alone and more than that is unknown at this time.

I chimed in on the main point in my first post, then replied to your second statement that intelligence equals moral compass, mostly because insults like the ones you carelessly sling, are exactly the reason why aliens won't come to earth, and so I had to fire back with sarcasm!

But since you're in the mood to name call, I'll raise the ante with more sarcasm

If you can get from "the universe is HUGE" to "therefore it must contain aliens", then certainly you must also believe in Magical Unicorns!

distances between systems rule out meeting any aliens.

Not if you travel via sub space, have a stargate or utilize warp drive engines!

Very true, it is possible we are the only life in the universe. But the odds are greatly in favor of life being relatively common, and intelligent life findable. When it comes to the universe we must say that all things are possible, but certain things are more likely.

The odds of advanced life forms developing interstellar space travel capability and actually wanting to come to earth are vanishingly tiny. I'm even more skeptical that they are "us" from the future and coming back in time. I would readily believe that they are craft built by someone right here on earth, but if they are they have done a masterful job of covering it up.

Actually I'm convinced that with the billions of solar systems within billions more galaxies, and the overall age of the universe, that there undoubtedly is life elsewhere, and among all that life, even if 1 in a million are intelligent, that can still equate to millions of intelligent civilizations.

The real problem is location. If you take a look at a map of the galaxy and where we are in it, it becomes depressing to know that we live very, very very far away from the city.. so to speak. In fact, we couldn't live much further away from everything in our own galaxy and still remain in it. Because of that, any other intelligent life capable of space travel on any level would go exploring towards the center, although I suppose it's possible that a race that advanced could send out probes to map the entire galaxy, and yet, we would probably still be among the last places to be mapped lol.

Well said..there is a possibility of many things, but certain eventualities are slightly more probable given the variables involved in the basics of what were talking about.

People that think we are alone give rise to the idea that some are so scared that they ignore things they see with their own eyes.
I think it's like a traumatic event that scares one so badly, that they come up with a new version of events to retain their sanity.

Even if 99% of it is bullshit, how do people discount the remaining 1%?
Do you know how many accredited people have had some sort of experience of this nature? Enough to make a 1% turnout fill a few stadiums..easily.

I was up late last night and I bumped into a show on in the middle of the night, not very well constructed but very informative. It was an interview with John Lear.

He's very old at this point. He holds every flight certification that exist (128 I think at this point) and his father was part owner of MOTOROLA.

His dad was not content and formed the company LEAR JET. (everyone knows that name)

The interviewer asked him if he ever knew of the govt. approaching his father with an effort to reverse engineer alien technology and he replied that it's happened several times now already. He claimed that there is a lot of things trying to be reverse engineered but the technology is just so far past our understanding even reverse engineering is not feasible at this time.

That falls into the 1% club. If you don't like it, you can always stick your head in the sand.

Fear is not a bad thing, it's your reaction to it that defines who and what you are.

I'm not at odds with the possibility, I just don't like bad arguments dogmatically thrown out as a way of stomping on others the Chief did.

How do you assign probability to the unknown domain? In programming logic, which you're familiar with, less than or greater than cannot be applied to null values - not because null indicates "nothing", but because it indicates "unknown".

But you weren't even saying "likely" - you were saying "certainly".

Agnosticism applied to aliens results in the presumption of their existence unless you can prove their non-existence.

Agnosticism applied to spiritual entities results in the presumption of non-existence unless you can prove their existence.

Don't you see the irony?

Everything doesn't fit neatly in an understandable package like a cheap paperback novel.

And if you need mathematical formulae to prove or disprove anything, you are a sad lil dysfunctional victim in the game of life.

Don't ever quote programming logic to me, just shows that you are part of the brainwashed crowd. YOu've been instructed to believe only what you can prove and disprove easily and daily.

I can tell you from 1st hand experience that there are some things even you can't explain. Will that make you afraid or angry and resentful?

I'll wager at some point in your life, you'll find something or someone that will put a hole in that skewed form of thinking the size of a full Texas moon as not everything in life is explainable.

Save your arguments for your community college night classes, they will love the fact that you and "Sheldon" were up all night collaborating on your thesis on programming logic and it's implications directed at Earthlings in general. (spits)

You'd make a great scientist, no heart and a staunch fear of anything you can't explain in 30 seconds or less.

So very close minded, it's a bitter pill.

So where do you go from here? Do you attack religion>?
What's your next victim in the empirical war on knowledge?

You must be popular at parties or more than likely, the convex.
