Well digging through some of these clips I happened across this documentary of the history of rock and roll. Very cool stuff, but all post Elvis, or modern rock: http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/sevenages/ Scott if you get the chance check it out, it has a lot on Hendrix. Like when he first played with Eric Clapton. Good stuff.

always loved this one from Sly. Rusty Allen on bass.....playing the PERFECT part. points for the cheesy drum machine intro (Rhythm Master?) giving way to real drums (pretty sure it's Sly on drums)

Ooh hey I saw something on the tube that struck my curiosity bone, but I can't find it anymore.

I used to sing this song to myself, "She don't love me no more" and I thought it was something I just made up in my head.

Turns out, I saw it on a old 1965ish soul or similar compilation.
The artist was a Bill Epps or something close to that.

Only problem is when I go to You Tube, I can't find it.

Do any of you guys know which tune I am thinking of and who wrote it?

I should have written it down. (ears down)

I'd never heard that Sly played drums on that before, so I tried to google it up .. according to Wiki, sounds like there were two versions of the album, one Sly did by himself that he scraped to start over. Maybe it is the earlier version you read about? Or someone could have messed up the documentation from the later sessions.

I read an interview with Newmak back in the mid 80's where he recalls (sorry if I do not recall the article with complete accuracy myself) the intimidation he felt going to audition for Sly's band ... he arrives at a hotel room filled with Sly and entourage, Sly points to a Remo practice kit across the room and says play us the funkiest thing you got ... he starts plinking away at the pads ... sweating it out until Sly started dancing around. I think he played the first gig with them the next day or something like that.

"Frisky" yes! and not to mention the funky wisdom of "Babies Makin' Babies"
