Actually JCP I enjoy some atonal music. I performed quite a bit of it in HS and university vocal programs. Charles Ives, Stravinsky and Schoenburg were both difficult and rewarding to perform. I am just having trouble connecting with yours. This is not necessarily your fault you see. Some music is simply beyond understanding of simple feeble minds and we all have limitations in what we can appreciate both musically and artistically.

I say follow your muse my good man and let the naysayers be damned! :)

yep, guilty as charged.....i DO play bass and mandolin. aw crap...I'VE BEEN SERVED!

when you grow up a little we can hope you'll one day figure out music ain't a competition. but if it was and they were handing out prizes for trite, banal, pretentious, and shameless EVH hero worship.....yeah, you'd take the prize, hon. your music may not go anywhere but at least it takes it's time getting there

My taste in music is thin. Even so, I don't really appreciate guitar driven material. It's too familiar and it doesn't hold my "short attention span theater".

I do agree with the last line about if I don't like it, that doesn't mean it's not music.

Just because any one entity doesn't like this or that, it means very little.
The crowd is sooooo stupid and they have no idea why they like this or that, they only know what THEY FEEL.

This is why I preach the emotional connection to the music. If you feel it, maybe they will feel it too. If they feel it, maybe they will even like it.
One never knows until it's slathered up in bacon grease and in the oven to cook.

Making a good tune is like baking something very intricate, a loud out of place noise may bring down the whole thing. Then again, it might make something new and tasty. One never knows until it's done.

I do what I have always loved,
it pisses people off, well, what can you do about that really?
even in the 21st century. sound still pisses people off, i think that's good.
I heard the banjo once occupied that spot.
