If you're a rhythm man, does that mean that you can do both simultaneously? ;)

Julie,
Never plared guitar in bed before. :)
.
But, some Rhythm guitarists are known for their split second timing . . . :)
.
You've got to play that chord right on the beat. :)
And - sometimes there are more beats per measure. :D
.
It's all in how you perform the song - hey - ever try synchopation?
.
I could go on, but I don't want to get kicked of the site!
.
Alan
.
p.s. Oh, hey Auburn Diva (while I'm in a dumb mood); I've been meaning to ask you something.
I was looking at your picture, and I noticed you're leaning to the side, Day after day, every day, you're always leaning to the same side. :)
Doesn't that hurt your spine after awhile? :)

Alan: I suspect she not really leaning to the side....but rather just has her one foot propped up on a gator. :D

Jonny,
Damn!
That's right - Florida = gators! I'd better not mess with her!
.
Julie - Sorry! I didn't mean it! Don't hurt me! :)
.
.
I played w/a couple of guys Friday. Sounded alright, we might form a band. We have different experience levels, and different experience types.
I play funky/jazzy/bluesy - type stuff, mostly.
One guy used to be only rock.
The other used to be only Blues.
.
Key words: "used to be."
.
We'll see what happens . . .

playing music or sex? HMMMMMMMMM tough choice..... are either good? I think it would make a difference.... as well as who either are with.... I'm sure that would make the choice.

I'm going to ponder this for a while..... as I play my guitar

Alan,

Not making a living at it, but yes I am getting a bit of a name.... and start recording on a new project this week. Not recording onto the computer, I actually get to use some real equipment, and been playing a lot wioth other people... even been jamming with a digerie doo player.

-Hey Auburn Diva- are there any drumming circles out there where you live? Just curious... we have them on the beach within 20 miles of here 3 times a week.

None that I've heard of. Open jams just about every night somewhere, though.

Julie, Jamaica,
Too bad you guys weren't closer to each other, huh?
and, uh,
ok . . . I give up. What's a digerie doo? You mentioned it before.
I have a dog, and I have to clean up her digerie doos every morning, but I don't think thats what you mean, though. :)
Alan, (10 zillion miles North of you)

It's an instrument from Austrailia... a long hollow tube about 5 ft, you blow through it and in makes a cool sound... there aren't too many players and most people who play it can't actually play it right, but I met a guy who's really good on it, and we've been making some good music. It's in E flat, and I was putting some middle eastern sounding rifs to it. When we record something I'll let you know so you can hear what I'm talking about.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you saw Crocodile Dundee 2 he used a digerie doo to call his Aborigine friends. Australian in origin, it's a piece of wood on a long cord. The user twirls it like a lasso, & it makes a humming sound which changes pitch depending upon how fast its twirled. At least, that's what I think it is...

You blow through it... I don't know about twirling it on a string, they are probably too heavy... the way you play it is similar to a trumpet, but way bigger. And to play it right you have to know how to do a thing called circular breathing.

Strangely enough, the dij is a pretty popular instrument around here. They like to us it in drum circles, and in some jam situations. I didn't know it could be melodic until I heard some masters at it on Yahoo Launchcast - I wish I could remember their names, you can probably find them in the World Beat category.

Drum circles are the only place around here you'll see them also, until I started jamming with a player, and with the 2 instruments they sound really cool... we might end up writing some music together... Hey BTW I didn't know you had drum circles out in Utah, I thought it was all Mormons, do they even believe in dancing? My college professor of percussion was mormon, he didn't even drink soda, due to his religous beliefs, and he was considered liberal among his fellow church goers.

Julie, Jamaica,
Yeah, ok, I know both of the 2 different things you guys are talking about.
I pulled out my 10lb dictionary, but digerie doo wasn't listed.
.
They must come in other notes, too huh, depending on length?
Alan
