First one on my BM player, The Great Escape. This song was written by Tammy (music) and Michael Leblanc (lyrics). Tammy asked me to record the instruments, she tried a vocal and wasn't real happy with it, so I added a vocal and then mixed our vocals together. Still a very rough mix, I'm hoping Tammy will re-record some harmonies.

Tammy , The song/structure is pretty good. Nice an Catchy.
Mike, Good work on executing the music.
Tammy, You should sing the the primary vocal.
Mike, You should not sing..except in sparse areas in the song, as a backing vocal for Tammy. (Sorry Mike Not meaning to bust your chops, but your vocal needs a lot of work (pitch and tune). It seems the song is also not at a comfortable register for your voice. )

IMHO

The music is OK but the vocals are a mess. Find a better singer.

Yeah, I knew it wasn't 'my thing', and Tammy didn't think she could sing it in that style, which is not her normal one.

Know anyone who wants to add a vocal track?

BTW, Tammy hasn't been coming here because the talk has been too over the top with politics, etc.

Yikes! Her choice...

re Song. Did she specify the meter/temp etc before you laid down the music tracks?

I could tell she was trying to belt out a few of the lyrics (as opposed to assert out) SO She might have been uncomfortable with that pace?

Maybe a re-work to a jazzier slower meter, ...Just thinking outlout here (Actiually its pretty quiet, but my head screams it ;P

let's face it...it's pretty much a sausage fest around here. does any female stay around here for long? promising prospect and fine bass player peg launter (sp?) was here recently for what a few wks? and the gal that had been here back in the day that everyone seemed to have big respect for (name escapes me) she went running for the hills too (again?).

yeah, I did!

The pissin' contests around here do turn the women off, no doubt.

PaperDog - yeah, Tammy set the tempo, and she was singing beyond her normal style. I'm waiting for her to decide how she might want to change it up, if at all. She's got a ton of projects going at the same time (don't we all?), so it may get shelved for a while.

Chaeya? SHe left before it got nasty...but came back..but then it got nasty, and then she left again... But, I suspect someday, she will be back.

I'm thinking we all could be a little kinder. Tammy pointed out to me once, (and for the most part I have taken her advice...) that I did not have to get base and vulgar to debate with others. And she is right... So I try to be aware of that in any jousts. Sometimes though, I cant help it... I break down...Maybe its cause she left..

Ms Peg...Sweet young lady, that one... I do think she realized that she fell into a shark tank here LOL! Prolly bailed after Vinny tried to put the moves on here (Ha hA vinny, I'm kidding) ... But I also suspect that young girls leads a very hi-energy life of work..(musical)... Prolly no time for this place cause she is over-drive- busy (Her chops reflect that)

I aint giving up on politics But I noticed that nobody ever 'asked any of the girls what their opiions were of anything... If you want more girls on this site , you gotta facilitate and oprafy the joint...

I'll start:
Ladies, I miss each and every one of you... Please come back! You are needed here... :)

Well, we had that totally non-female included debate about abortion recently.
I'm sure the ladies would have a thing or two to say about men having that talk without them.

No, you have to get vulgar. As surviving member #26, it's in the bylaws.

once again i've been beat to the punch by the other fine members here.
What they said... about the phalic stranglehold on BM as well as the vocals.
Good song.

Well Dog, I'm not really sure why any woman would choose to hang around here for long. Tammy, Peg, Chaeya, Black 57 and others all have a lot to offer in music discussions but their voices are easily drowned out by a bunch of frustrated old coons with gravely underdeveloped social skills... us.

I'm afraid it comes with the territory. Male musicians are often sensitive, emotional, and easily offended by criticism. It's part of why we gravitate to music. We also seem to feel that our opinion is somehow more valid than anyone else's opinion. It isn't. A little lite political talk quickly escalates into personal insult where the gloves come off, the blades come out, and everyone starts gouging away with "Oh yeah? Well your music sucks and you can't play schite!!!".

One of the solutions on other forums is to limit Poli discussions to the Poli forum only. No exceptions. This requires active moderation which is non-existent here on BM. Anything goes here as long as you don't post a cel # or email address.

I don't have any good answers, but I participate on two car forums and a lot of women are comfortable there and fit right in. Who would have guessed? There is a concerted effort to keep discussions civil and avoid personal insult that may be significant but I can't be sure.

And here I am again, back in the den of vipers. :)

You have to have a thick skin to swim with the sharks in the wide open sea.

This forum is a good way to learn to be mentally tougher. Lord knows it's tough in here and people are OPINIONATED as all get out.

Plus this place is my relief valve and I often vent in here, NOT like I am supposed to do but I do feel better after I say what I need to.

Better than blurting something awful at the wrong time in the wrong place, cause that happens when ya keep it all bottled up.

LOL "Ya gotta keep those juices flowing, maaaan".
