You have to love that bass sound. Someone knew how to play it..
I am in the wrong era again..

Sherwood Akuna on bass.
Joe Deaguro on vibes and background vocal.

btw, Sherwood's also handles guns pretty good too.

The original version is still the best though http://youtu.be/NcjYUvAsZwM

I just heard the bass line, his tone on that bass and I was like, "there's someone who can really play a bass"...

The reason I originally got into playing bass was because so many dbags f**k it up and don't get the nuances of it at all.

It was just easier to do it myself than explain it to another dimwit who really is just a frustrated guitarist with a bass.

Thanks for the vids, Vin..enjoying them and learning new stuff with every tidbit I hear.

So few know what this sounds like and yet they proclaim how great they are. I just snicker, look away and wonder how they think they know anything at all.

Send us some more goodies via bmix, yeah?

Wow, that was a gem.

He reminds me of Hendrix but different.
Never really considered that possibility before.

Thanx for another thought provoker.

It was just as cool to hear him talk about what he was doing.
The methodology behind his work cries "artist", no, screams it.

Music is on your terms, not on what people want.
That's completely it for me. If I couldn't play what I like, I'd sell my crap and start playing golf. (gun to my own head) lol

lol Reminds me of KC and the Sunshine band.

Funny in how those bands usually have some no frills guitarist, but the bassist had to be "tits".

More goodies..plz.

and before robert palmer got all 80's rock he did a lot of real cool "blue eyed soul" back in the 70's.

pretty sure this is bob babbit (legendary motown bassman) handling the low end.

http://youtu.be/ZmqeZxeRDFQ ... Rainey or Brock??

http://youtu.be/gp85RALyx4Y ... Babbitt over Sly Dunbar?
