Look at my horse; my horse is amazing.
Give it a lick.
MMMmm! It tastes just like raisins!
Have a stroke of its mane,
it turns into a plane,
and then it turns back again when you tug on its winky.
Oooo thats dirty!
Do you think so?
Well I better not show you where the lemonade is made -
Sweet lemonade, mmmm sweet lemonade.
Sweet lemonade, yeah sweet lemonade.
Get on my horse Ill take you round the universe -
and all the other places, too.
I think youll find that the universe pretty much covers everything.
Shut up woman, get on my horse.

Looking back there are actually quite a few that I like now and didn't like then.
Bowie: China Girl and Let's Dance, MJ: Thriller, Prince and others.

In the late 70s the disco craze hit and I was a rock musician watching clubs switch format before my eyes. We still played the frat houses and Hollywood but most of the local clubs were going disco. I didn't know any of the music but had a nice sound system and knew how to work a crowd. My roommate knew all the hit tunes so we formed a partnership and ran disco when I wasn't gigging live. He was the music catalog and I was the front man.

Working as a DJ was easy work, more money, and provided and endless supply of willing honeys compared to playing live but was far less satisfying to the soul.

OH, do not dis the BOWIE. I like all of it and I consider none of it to be dance music in it's regular form. If anything it's a mix of dance and much better stuff to give it a passable flavor.

Bowie is so strange every thing he touches has some value. (imo)

If you want to make money as a musician you HAVE to play dance tunes. Also if you want to be one of the more popular bands you MUST play those dance songs. Back in the disco days I was of the same mindset "disco sucks" After living thru that shortly after, the Hair band days arrived. Now days I get to play the music I like but I also look at it from a business perspective. You can call me a sell out but I prefer to make money playing music and I do. I play for the audience. I get NO satisfaction by playing "all the songs I like" to a bunch of empty chairs. Unless those chairs are empty because the dance floor is PACKED!

I don't play too much or more often privately at frats and drunken spectacles.

BUT I LIKE IT, the people get more screwed up and act badly.
That's entertainment to me.

I was at a little shindig and I was playing some crap with a few others I know and it started to get nasty. Next thing you know we had people yelling, throwing drinks on each other and fighting.

I just calmly got on the mic and was like, "ok boys let's play something a little heavier" and we watched them absolutely house the place. We played some heavy stuff we weren't suppose to play and no one even cared. lol

That and I would laugh a little every time something bad went down.

The one chick got pushed in the pool and I was like "attention: can that woman swim...i don't think so...there is an extra charge for me becoming wet because I have to go drag her out".

All of a sudden people were helping and all the hubub died down.
In short, I was bored. It was a better party when they were going crazy. lol (The more fun I have, the more fun you have, quid pro quo)

Dance tunes are like castor oil, if I get a big dose of it, you can be sure I'll want to puke.

Nah, wind us up and let us go.. Keep your dance music to a minimum please.

Wow THAT was cool..

I like and respect Annie Lennox but I would have preferred it with just Bowie.
She's a detractor but I love her makeup in this vid.

Bowie is another one that will continue to be interesting until he dies.
( and is reborn as a shooting star )

If we have to have this type of duet, the Superbowl IS a great time for this venue.

(And wow, no in ear monitors...wow, did I say Wow?)

Ha ha I saw that when it originally aired! It shows David Bowie can sing with anyone and he is still good! Rod Stewart is the same way! It just didn't look right spelled that way
