Hey Grant,

This looks like it would be easy to do in El Paso. Maybe your network should connect to the Dallas Network?

Yes and No...

I'm already looking into a Song-Writers Workshop as part of the mix.

H o W E V E R.... anything bigger than that at this juncture, is a certain suicide for my effort. You have to remember that El Pasoans aren't exactly up on the game of "Support Your Causes". Patrons here (As I have discovered) love it when everything is free. The biggest reason for this is the depressed economy. Unfortunately, I don't have the serious money backing that it would take to launch a 1st class structure AND that would also give away everything for free.

I am about to hit a few of our Radio stations...and with any luck, they wont scoff or look down at what I am doing... The biggest support I need right now is exposure. And fer chrissakes, I got T-Shirts!

The way this "expo" was put together is how you can make money for doing it. I've played the Sons of Hermann Hall and it's just a local dump that can be rented cheaply. This isn't an enormous undertaking. All I'm saying is study how this franchise is put together and recreate it to scale in El Paso when you're ready.

I don't have any idea who these "experts" are teaching classes, do you? Yet there will be people who pay to learn from someone who is willing to teach. It looks like there is a partnership of a few people to put this event on, and they've been doing it for 4 years now.

You could almost copy the website word-for-word in any city. They offer sponsorships (advertising) to businesses and you could certainly come up with that in El Paso with a little shoe leather work.

Music stores, CD retailers, recording studios, video rental, bars & nightclubs, Denny's & late night eateries, lawyers & accountants, music venues, Sound & lighting companies, and other business associated with music would be willing to sponsor an event like this.

You might also contact the Texas Department of Tourism, or Texas Music Association's Austin Chapter (SXSW) to see if they have grants (no pun intended) for a Texas Music event like this.

I'm only on guy doing this right now. I dont dispute at all you are saying... But between my full time job, my tied up budget, wrapping up my Cd...and getting ready for the MArch 2013 contest...and also helping some friends charter up a new blues association...fK! I want to take a little nap :)

you don't have to be.

But don't discount what one person can do when they are committed to a vision.
