Here's another one (frist song on my player on my page for you newbies) from the album that i'm getting closer to finishing.
I have a few concerns in it, but before mentioning em, i'd like to hear what you guys (and gals) think and your thoughts on it mixing wise and such...

espescially interested in drummers' points

Nice track.
I like the drumming, especially the cool beat. Maybe less cymbals in the first half before the guitar solo, perhaps a broken ride pattern on a tomtom, with sparser crashing, instead, might make for a cool earthy contrast to the airy fire of the cymbals splashing away under the guitar solo.

I remember seeing a band called White Witch back in the 70's.

They were a local Detroit band, weren't they?

OK, I like the music. I am not fond of the execution.

An acoustic guitar, really>>?

Gee Hayden, with more force it could pass for STP.

I say, ditch the tin can, power this mfer up and play like it's a little harder than Motley Crue but less than full on punk and you have something that smells a little rotten, but that's what's good about it.

Reminds me a part of Velvet Revolver.. lemme see if I can find it.

yeah here it is..
At 3:11-3:35 ish..

If I was producing your album, I'd take away your acoustic and MAKE you play an electric. Also, you need to sing with more dirt+force if you are going this route.

Yep, it sounds like badly recorded STP/Velvet Revolver.
Throw away your acoustic and wallow in the mud of it all.

Maybe Velvet Revolver will buy it then... cause they haven't dropped anything but turds lately

Remember, i'm just trying to sell songs, not be a rock star or get rich on album sales. I'll gladly make what i can from CD sales, but that's not the end goal.
Here it is Slash. Coooooome n get it.

Now if anybody has any points that don't just jab me, please feel free.

P.S. that's acoustic "along with" electric.
I like it. THAT is what counts most to me!

You may fairly regard my opinion as worthless, but it was not intended to jab you ... I may have misunderstood your use of the term "points" by thinking you were seeking constructive critique.

Oh i wasn't refering to you Vinny (i think Scott caught his girlfriend sleepin with his boyfriend today or somethin)
You critique was spot on; he had warned me about cymbals washing out the mix.
I appreciate any and all opinions... even if i don't like that doesn't mean they're not without merit. Even Scotts'
He was just a little strong on the delivery

Sorry Hayden, I like Velvet Revolver..and that sound is marketable.
(chiiiing $$$)

If you're firmly attached to that acoustic, that's a bit confusing but I wasn't throwing you a cut. No-no, that was merely an observation.

"You have to hang onto yourself" and if that's not you, ok then drop it and move on to the next one.

No one is right 100% of the time, maybe I am off base. idk..
I just call em as I see em..(wink)

It sounds like demo-quality mics and studio, so I will address this mix as if it's only a demo for a better recording at some point future.

Distorted guitars always take a deceptively large place in a mix. Turn them down a few dbs and spread them out in the stereo spectrum.

I'd start by turning them down to the point of barely hearing them at all. Then make a mix and listen to it many times before deciding how much each guitar should come up. That dry guitar is obnoxiously out front, btw.

The vocal will be the right level when the guitars come down, but sounds very dry. I don't use much reverb on vocals usually, but this could use a little more.

Overall a decent demo already. Keep 'em coming, bro!

and Valuable points they were Scott! No offense taken my man.
Good tips Vod. I'll go over these points with the engineer/Co Producer... he has a few yrs exp but is still learning as well.

It's been done in studio but my performance is the biggest problem; was sick during these sessions and have to do much of it over. Just looking for help now to utilize in the later mixing.
Thanks Gang!

For some reason I can't help think early Aerosmith . . . must be my age

I liked the little esoteric phrase the guitarist played coming out of his solo!

Yea Etu i'm pretty impressed with the guitarist. Very talented.
Scott i will never be anything but me!
PD I think acoustic guitar is underutilized in Rock N Roll. But mainly i like it and THAT IS what counts... i don't write em for anybody but ME
