I don't feel this project to be my cup of tea ... but I do think it is a great idea, and I'm confident you guy's will come up with something.

Vinny, I was hoping you would have contributed something to Mark's noble effort here. I, myself would then be insanely jealous of you... But I guess you dont feel up to becoming jealousified...

By the way, I would have contributed but I am not kidding when I say I dont have any equipment to offer a track... But you...you could do it...

Paperdog .... I'm surprised that a songwriter of you stature. tooling around in a spiffy 'lil Miata and all, is without even the most basic means to make a recording in this day and age.

One of those little Zoom multi trak units ... you can get one used for about $225, built in mics, phantom power, 8 inputs with mic pre, convert between wave % mp3 .... plenty for rough demos and BM projects, scratch pad for song ideas etc .

Maybe Planetguy and crew will donate the proceeds from the sale of this project's production to a "Buy Papaerdog a Recorder Fund Drive" ... if that doesn't work out, don't give up hope, I've heard from redundant sources that president Obama is going to send us all lot's of free stuff ... just write and tell him you want a multi-trak recorder with that order

LOL Vinny... You have a point... But I'm bust until after the first of the year... Even then... I hate recording equipment. I spend more time trying to figure how it works than I would working it. I'm one of those guys who would have refused to buy a shovel during the Gold Rush, cause my dream of getting rich would have been shattered by the knowledge that I fell for the fever ... and that the real money was in selling the dream.

well, it just seems like maybe unecessarily trying to reinvent the wheel. if i had access to an instrument laid out that way....i doubt i'd wanna spend any time RElearning my way around. now if it was microtonal or offered up some different tones, maybe.

i've heard his name but til now was unfamiliar w any of his music. that clip reminds me much of Balinese gamelon music.

now emil on the other hand i AM familiar w. mah gawd....how many sessions has that guy played on !!!??? he was always big into the odd time stuff but that's the first time i've heard him mess w microtonal stuff. there's not many that can make a seven actually groove like that man.

If one's focus is based in traditional musical forms then the traditional key layout would be an obvious preference. Those focused more in the age old tradition of non-traditional music might find it to be an improved wheel.
