They're unfinished/unEQed/unmixed/with all flaws included.
So if you have any ideas or tips for the mix, please share em with me.

(Mook and Gravity)

Hope you like em
Hope you buy one of

Love MOOK ! Very Much alive, that one! Great Guitar intro, Excellent Lead breaks and solos. Damn Fine song! :)

Gravity : Nice, concise, jazzy piece, with sharp, cutting guitar work to slice it up in nice pieces ;)

Vocals... you Got the tune, jusr needs some work with enunciation on some of the verses. Its my observation that lots of vocalists tend to purposely 'flex' the tone in their voices...(Like they strive for some certain sound or effect) That often just makes it sound contrived. Relax with your verbage...Your lyric stands on its own quite fine. You got a good voice, Trust it with enunciation ... Just my opinion...

Hey Thanks Dog. I appreciate the comp, and the advice!

I've heard it about my annunciation before. Enough that I do plan to try to be more aware of it when i go in to do the final vocal tracks (I haven't done those yet). I'm really not trying to sound any particular way. I really just don't pay attention to it... guess that's why the lack of annunciation ? ;)

Thanks again

Mook - once you get mixed, should be good, everything but the right channel's shaker being right down the center made it hard to listen to it all. I'd say get rid of the shaker - maybe that's your 'click'?

Gravity - lyrics were hard to distinguish at times, panning and eqing of the guitar would help that. Some reverb 'room' to everything would bring the lead guitar (nice!) into the tune more.

....

Mook - ummmmm, sounds like grunge with an acoustic guitar.
Not up to your usual standard. idk how to fix that.

Gravity - On the other hand I liked that one a lot, oddly because I really do not like acoustic guitar at all.

I don't hear any bass lines. I do hear you doubling the melody with your voice. I think maybe if you have a more solid bass line recorded, a new path for your vocal might be evident.

Don't delete/destroy anything, but do experiment with them a little more.

You might get something completely different and oddly artistic out of it.

Gravity was def my fave thus far.

Thanks Scott.
I do have to push him to get more bass. I like everything recorded extra hot, but with digital apparently that's hard to do due to losing signal from clipping... i do wish it were analog!

But these are totally raw tracks other than reverb in the vocal on Gravity. I prefer very little echo n reverb in vox.
Thanks for the tips. I think the shaker will be drawn to the back in the end, but still present.
I am a little lost on what to do about the guitar on Mook. I like the acoustic sound if we can EQ it to bring out the richer end of the tone.
We'll see. I have a long way to go yet.

I always say if you have one piece you have to have the same, try changing the other slice of the pie.

I.e. If you love that guitar on Mook, try changing up your vocal track on it.
Try to make it different than what you have so far.

(The difference between insanity and inspiration is less than a hair's width, so even if you think it's off you might be a heck of a lot closer than you think.)

I may try using an electric guitar track along with/instead of acoustic on it.
Thanks!

Hay, I Love both songs. Your writing has improved so much.
They are inventive and very original if you know what I mean.
I Love the way you are combining acoustic and electric so both
are distinct and equally unique. The Bad Ass edge the songs
have is a great identifier you should adopt.

whomever is singing "MOOK" sounds just like The Psychedelic Furs lead vocalist...the instrumental track sounds Led Zeppelin III ish
really enjoyed the music, and my remarks were meant as compliments..

I like both, good job, but I think "Mook" is the better song. The only thing that I didn't care for on Mook was the lead guitar; since both the lead and the voice are dry they sound like they're competing instead of complimenting each other. I would add reverb or other effects to distinguish it from the voice's presence. "Gravity" was OK, the lead worked better in that one, but a little jazzy for most people's ears.

Thanks Jimmy. Yeah actually i'm not crazy about the first lead in Mook, but really like the 2nd and finish. I hope to correct with some editing and a proper mix.
Gravity is my favorite on the album. it's a lotta fun to play and sing :D
