whatta cast of "sidemen". love dave holland on fender bass! the mrs. scored us a cpl of great tkts to see Holland when he comes to JAZZ AT THE BISTRO in St. Louis the end of January. it's a small little jazz club that seats maybe 120 or so. absolutely GREAT place to see/hear music. we'll be first table front and center. we saw scofield there from that same table and i actually could have reached over and messed w his pedals!

..."hey john, enough w the chorus already.....i don't think you need it on this tune!"

Messing with Scofield's pedals ... that'd be funny! (You should go fix Pat Metheny's rig too!) 8)

Dave Holland is great, his recent drummer, Nate Smith, is amazing. That should be a good show!

for the most part i dig P.M. but sometimes i do wonder if he thinks he's paid by the note! the one thing i would mess w is his mosquito tone when he's on that Roland gtr synth. that quickly get on my nerves.

i'm really looking fwd to catching steve nelson on vibes w holland. i really like when vibes is the only instrument supplying the harmony... like gary burton did on much of his older stuff and when he worked for getz.

Yeah, ust the heavy chorus on 80/81 was enough to make me cry "uncle" ... then the Roland synth .... gak!!!

That's a great clip of Getz/Burton ... I'd bet you get at least as good of an evening of music, or better, seeing Holland's Quintet. You better do something real nice for the wife!
