as paul said fast fret download audacity (free download multitrack program) and take a day or two to play with it...dont get bogged down by trying to use all the multi tracks right way just use it as a big tape recorder for now...just set the mic in the middle of the room..try and hang it from a hight..or get a friend to stand on a chair just for the recording...dont have it to close to any of the amps and just hit record...try to keep all the levels(guitar, vocals etc) as level as you can and dont play too loud or you will end up with musical "soup" as i call it... rock out..

and when you get a good take you can (post it here) and use that as a scratch track and start laying down overdubs.....and bare in mind it not going to sound all "hollywood" but ive used it with my new band and its great for getting down rough takes and demos...

good luck.

processor speed is everything man..

ok, well not everything...

Processor & Ram = two HUGE variables that can make adding reverb/effects to a tack painful, or a quick blip on yer screen....
