so i've borrowed a friend's Gitane DG 255 because i'm seriously considering picking up a "gypsy jazz gtr" and i wanted to see if i could get with the long 26 1/2" scale. (for those not hip Strats and teles are 25 1/2" and most Gibsons are 24 3/4'). i'm not real crazy about the set up on his gtr...i'm a pu**y when it comes to how i set my instruments up.....low action and never w any too heavily gauged strings. a few yrs back i played a few of these gypsy gtrs and tho they had the longer scale they were all set up as total shredders w super low action and great playability. (they all have zero frets). but his is just a bear to play.

anyway.....the string length is a little weird but not too bad (worse in the "campfire chords" area)....but the REALLY weird thing....instead of a fret marker at the 9th fret....these gtrs all have the marker at the TENTH!!! oh, man...that' just WRONG!!!

if i get one of these axes i'll definitely be going to ol' Sharpie to address that.

you can check my buddy Thom working out on this gtr here (he's the guy standing playing lead) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNnIgNl1EKg

(jeff, this is the same guy whose gtr playing you enjoyed on those current songs on my page)

the one i'm looking to snag is a PARIS SWING DG-42.
http://elderly.com/new_instruments/items/GG42.htm

i've heard really good things about these and was very impressed w one of their mandos that i had for awhile.

hey jimmy, since you're in the mkt for a new acoustic you might look into one of these...then you can give me a full on review.

Very cool Mark! That Lead guitar player sounds like Paul Simon when he sings!

very cool design w some interesting wrinkles there prevost. love being able to adjust the neck angle that way....and the minimum bracing, very cool. don't care much for the headstock shape but it does allow the strings to pass over the nut in straight line so that's spot on.

if they made a mid priced "gypsy" i'd look into one for sure. so for now my GODIN Multiac Duet will be the only Canuck in my stable.
