Very true..

It's temperamental at very least but if mine got stolen or broken, I'd go buy another as I like it that much..

Gotta be the red one with the vibe to mic switch.

The black one is just there to throw you off and it's so cheap I actually felt pain for my pal when he bought it.

(He's a novice and a pain in the ass at times, I figure he'll break it rather quickly and then I'll try again to get him to get the correct (red) one.)

Yes. We use one.

It was $20. And it works.

I use a snark...works fine, easy to see on stage. In the instructions it explains that it "auto calibrates" at certain intervals. I have seen this happen on occasion when I first power on it goes through some screen changes before its ready.

I've got a little no-name one I got for $10 on ebay, does't pick up the low E string very well (and pretty much useless for bass tuning, too), but it's just as accurate as the tuners on my acoustics, Spider amp and in various software, too.

I was having difficulty writing/translating from my head a bridge for a tune and it hit me like a rock.

If you set your SNARK to mic, you can sing softly into it and it will tell you what notes you are singing. You just have to notate it, play it so that you know it's correct AND then move on to the next piece of the tune you are working on.

It's not infallible, but it definitely works.
Little pieces of music at a time are easier to work with.

with respect, i've tried the Snark, the Fishman FT-1, and the Korg AW-2, amd several others...the Korg smoked them all in every way, most importantly to me was the fast tracking. The way it swivels in every direction is also a good thing.

And the Korg isn't cheap..but the snark was.

I've used a slew of tuners, hand held to rack mounted and the snark I def like the best.

USE WHAT YOU LIKE, that's the point.
