I understand your frustration, but trust me, sometimes having band members isn't all it's cracked up to be....We have a band it's still a work in progress, and have some great contacts...I'm th lead guitarist/vocalist...my husband the drummer... but my problem is the other guitar player, and my backup singers lol, well let's just say, were pulling must of the weight and talent, and I can't get the singers to open their mouth!! So I let one go already tonight...and now I'm looking for 2 backups...a keyboardist, violinist, and guitarist....aint got no time for these games!! so girl, if your blessed with talent....grab ahold of that confidence and show them what you got, make THEM want to be apart of "YOUR" band...so, good luck :)

After doing 4 Open MIcs in a row at 2 venues, I tried a different place last night. Figure this is a better chance for me to find other bandmate(s) than waitign for Craigslist responses or new ads.
The best thing I cuold say about last night: it was close to home and I was home for dinner after doing 4 songs!
Venue was a coffee shop/sandwich shop place, so early OM - 6-8pm.
Hosting 'band' - 2 guys on guitar and a guy on drums (snare/small kick/hi-hat/cymbal). They were pretty unrehearsed and vocals were rough (being nice).
15 people in the place total, including the 3 folks running the shop.
After the host band did 4 songs, they called me up for 4 (Into the Mystic, Friend of the Devil, original, Behind Blue Eyes). One of the band guys said to me after first song "you're going on first next time!"
Then the only other player ther got up - had a guitar with a crapping-out pickup, so they pointed a mic at it to start - the pickup came on halfway through his first song, but host guy didn't even try to adjust the sound. I hightailed it out of there at that point.
No chance of finding a bandmate there. Moving on ...

It has been very difficult for us to find a lead/2nd guitarist up here in Tacoma. We have tried out at least 30 people in the 6 months we have been looking. Very few "lead" guitarists that could do as they claimed. So we decided to just get a second rhythm guitarist and both of them could share the lead role and work out things that way.

Still have not found anyone. We do have 1 hopeful coming out this sunday, though.

It has been a long road to finding one. Keep trying. Post every day to get your name and needs out there!

You may have accidentily stumbled onto a winning setup. Grow together, play together - forget that lead / rythym nonsense, and have two guitar players!

Good luck

That is what we are hoping.

Thought I'd dredge this one up again!

What is so frustrating is replying to CL ads and not getting ANY reply. Even a 'thanks but no thanks' reply.
Of course if they don't reply I know right away that they would be sucky bandmates anyway.
I've sent replies to a number of ads recently, including links to my CL ad or to my reverbnation/youtube sites, using my real email address, not just the CL reply system. Not one reply. Sent another one last night, will see if they reply.
The guy I tried out last week, took off quickly during the open mic and hasn't sent an email or anything. Maybe he was embarassed about his performance ability, but at least a 'not what I'm looking for' would be nice.

Search Function, along with all the other tools of the trade.
And a whole lot of fortitude.

One reply I received was weeks after my initial contact.
We have been together > six years.

I think I checked back right after I started it and it had no replies, I can't believe it got 4 pages and I never knew. :( I wonder if anyone from this thread is still looking to work together?
I've dealt with more and more flakes since this time.

They do, but you've got to make sure you are registered with a valid email address you check and that your email settings don't block the notices.
Best bet is to 'hide' your contact info in your profile (like "me AT yahoo DOT com"), but then get out and talk/meet/network with others. Looking for a long-distance gig is near impossible unless you are well-established with lots of samples of your work (MP3s, videos) and you're willing to invest in traveling for auditions, etc.

Im just curious, At 21 where did she get $5000 to record songs. When I was 21 it was hard enough to find an extra $1000 let alone 5 and I had a pretty good job then.

If you check her website, she's done a lot of performing!

[/b]Man I hear this, I contacted 14 count em 14 people off bandmix in my area and didn't get one response. Most of them have been inactive for a month or more. The strange thing the music is ranking very high on reverbnation and that's without any vocals. The music and lyrics are fnished. Im just lookin to overdub some hardcore vox and I can start plugging this. But its almost like pulling teeth.
