NO ONE would know about it, and even less would care. I did lose respect for him breaking a Les Paul Jr, though.

THAT was an immature act!!!

The tirade was typical rock-n-roll. We'd all just laugh and take another toke if this was the 70s

No Dont assume that at all... Huge difference ...Hendrix destruction was itself an attempt of artistic showmanship and expression. (You'll note its part of his act) Same for the Who... Pete's angst came form a very real madness within him about the entire art he attempted.

Now can you truly say there is any comparison between Green day and the aforementioned? Armstrong threw a temper tantrum and acted like a little child...not a professional performer. He looked like a fool-tool, trying to bust up his guitar

Yes, I can truly say.
If he were sober, even more so.

lets assume for a moment that this was an artistic statement, in the vein of hendrix or the who,
what is the statement?

" waaaaa I'm a rock star but kids today don't think what I have to say is important"

yea, so cry me a river.

very different statement from the anti-establishment statements from hendrix and so on.

look at dylan,
he was an artist, all he had to do to make this statement was switch from acoustic to electric.
and he got a real reaction, for some people, that wound still festers.

this guy greenday or whoever he is, he's pissed cause the truth is, he shot his bolt years ago and he's just woke up to it.

You don't know BJA's background. He's a punk rocker that made the choice to accept bigger things for the sake of what family he had left - and he paid for it dearly from his peers.
Still, he's punk rock at heart, so that was actually a mild fit.

I am aware that he fought off a lot of idiots and critics, who couldn't stand to see him succeed. And He's deserving of his success...
But IMO the 'whiner act' has got to go... Seriously..It just makes him look like a pu**y...
