Just got the new tunes on my Bandmix player, Hey Joe, Tore Down, and Mess'in With the Kid. Thank you Andy Oxman at Soundworks Recording in Blue Springs, Missouri. Couldn't have done it without you. Or Stan Wood (sax), Jeff Wall (guitar) or Mike Goldman (drums).

Great sound! I would have put a little more reverb on the vocals but that's just me. Love the traveling bass line in Tore Down!

The melody of the songs is about all there is here, and I feel as if these are a shell for more developed song ideas. But as is I am left wanting for a lot more. "Hammond B3" this does not compare well with your sheer efforts of past recordings. There certainly are some daring chords and sax counter parts, but it needs the stuff that is missing so that it doesn't sound like underproduced material. Just my opinion Bob but I feel you are just getting lost in trying to do to much. The voice is pretty good, easy with lots of character and good diction.

Don't get me wrong, these are quality piece's of work from artist's who obviously know their vision and how to bring it to tasty fruition.

If a man is going to do a cover ( or covers ) he should own them artistically.

Nice job Bob. "Tore Down" and "Messin' With The Kid" were sweet, especially your bass parts but "Hey Joe" is a miss - it's too slow, too long and the vocals are uninspired. I would like to hear one of your originals recorded.

Thanks for the input...Hey Joe is done slower on purpose, I like Roy Buchanan's version much better than the original, that was my inspiration for it. We got rave reviews at our last gig, now if only I could get to feeling better...oh well I'm getting old.

Bob, first off... You got great vocals on all three of em...

1) HEY JOE: I thought the intro guitar could have use a little less reverb. The vocal was excellent. Loved the Sax in this version, but seemed he followed more often than led...(but then asserted more ownership during the solo) Lead guitar ...Nice effect on tone. Bass was good but needed more presence.

2) MESSIN WITH THE KID: Nice Conture by sax over breaks (Tho Sax Solo could have been more aggressive...) Again, Excellent vocals. Bass

3) TORE DOWN: BASS BASS BASS Its a great beat and pattern Step forward more need to be a lil more thicker ... You are too modest .. Or maybe my hearing is shot...

Sax player is brand new, only a few months in. He's never been in a band like this, making huge strides already. Next songs I post wil be originals, hopefully produce a CD in 2013, provided we live that long....damn Mayans...

Awesome recordings Bob! I like that sax player! Your voice and bass playing is Stellar! Having a sax player just adds a different dynamic to the band and I mean that in a positive way!

This is Jeff, guitarist. I've read all your guys' comments. I followed this fairly close, just never signed up. I appreciate everyone's honesty and respect for each other. I too appreciate the feedback, positive and negative. I agree with everything that's been said.

These were recorded live, we spent 4 hours in the studio, the purpose was to make a usable demo for gig purposes, not an album worthy, finished project. I would not have any of these recordings on a finished album. All guitar work was completed in one take. This was the first time I have ever stepped foot in a studio. If money and time were no issue, as you all know, things would sound different.

. Welcome aboard the Bandmix forum Jeff. Lots of great people here and good info. I've communicated with some people for years now. We have talked about all kinds of topics, both musical and non-musical, although one of my last posts said something to the effect of sticking to music as I'm worn out on the political topics, although I might break that promise as we get closer to the election and Romney says something stupid again.
BTW, for everyone's info, Jeff's a very fine guitarist and his vocals are coming around real nice as well. I'm happy to find a guitarist willing to be involved/rehearse as much as Jeff, it makes everyone's job easier.

Welcome, Jeff. Thought the playing was first rate in those songs, and for putting audio out there to get gigs, you guys did great.
