I repeat myself on this, but 2012 has been a fantastic year in music IMO.
Who cares what the charts say? Look up 1984, you will find madonna and whacko jacko and a bunch of other pop and a lot of crap on them, but we also had tons or great music all over the place.
The charts reflect the lowest common denominator - Not exactly a good way to measure the quality of the music any given year.. maybe a better way to put it is to use it as a measuring stick for the lack of taste of the most common listeners.
