For those into the heavy loud rockin' stuff, it ain't for you (actually all my songs are for ME, I just share them!)
The cello part wrote itself after I tracked the guitar, and the rest just fell into place after that. This is the 11th song for my next CD, just started recording song 12.

Nice song!

It really needs drums!

At time @1:23 when you start the main verses again, consider introducing a heavy down beat, AND step up the cello with a viola accompaniment. I think you will find that this will add a tone of motivation, to get through that 'Dark street'

Also, Are you comfortable singing at that octave? Just wonder why you capoed it where you did.

I like the transition effects on your video. How does one time the vocal and lip movements on two separate cameras angles at the same time? Very cool job ;)

Dog - I'm not comfortable singing in ANY key! :lol: I capoed on 3 because that's what felt right for the music as I figured it out - just came into my head that way!
I actually had a drum track programmed to keep the speed of the song when I was first tracking the guitar, but didn't like how it made the song sound, possibly a 'live' drummer would find a better way to play it.
I'll save the viola part for when I do this in an arena with full string section! :wink: (like Rush did on Friday night - wow!)

The synching of video to audio takes a lot of patience, subtly shifting each until they line up, superimposing one over the other. I've heard that Reaper can be used for video mixing, but haven't explored that option yet, I use Reaper for audio, and Seriph MoviePlus for video editing.

I know about syncing, it can be a pain. I heard Power Director 10 is supposed to be extremely easy to work with. Can't wait to try it.

I like the song a lot. I wouldn't add live drums, but maybe get someone to do a light dumbek or djembe would be nicer, since you have the cello.

My producer-friend (who mastered my first CD) said I should have added a bridge, but as I explained, I'm just the channel for the songs I *write*, they come out the way they do because that's how they are when they appear.
I never claim to be more than a 'passable' singer - I'd rather do harmonies 90% of the time, but I hope that my emotions come through in my writing.

i have discovered that a bridge, is sometimes like 'time', ...being 'relative'.
IF the song were to go commercial it would need a 'formal' bridge, (How else would a live DJ know where to start queuing commercial ads, off the song's half points.?) ;)


Your song already has some informal bridge, not conventional, but not bad or wrong. Commercial potential is there.

Its your baby, and these things are born as they are born. With some artists, a song has the face that only its mother could love, other artists take the Ramsey Benet route with theirs...

In the end if you are happy with your song, good bad or indifferent, , that's all that really counts

Thanks, Dog - I figured the lead guitar part was the 'bridge' (the chording is actually different there).
