Everytime we to try load Lame, it doesnt seem to show up when I browse to load it into EAC.

Did you UNZIP it? I'm not positive, but I think it's a zip file. Once it's been unzipped, I just left mine in the My Documents folder, you just point Audacity at it and it works perfect. I've had no trouble at all with it. Don't be fooled by the name, it works perfect.

I have a full blown version of Cubase that i haven't even bothered to install. I'm hesitant because i don't want to get hooked on playing with all the things you can do with it, i was warned that it's easy to get caught up in; not only that, it looks (from the manual) that you could spend a liftime and still have some stuff to find on it. sooooo....

If i ever get to where i want or need to multi-track then i'll give it a go.

I have been using CuBase for years now and still find wonderful stuff nested in the program. It was worth the learning curve to me - and this is coming from someone who's been known to throw the install disc as far as he can if immediate gratification was not achieved.

yea i use cubase in connection with wavelab and i find it does the job but it is a very sticky spiderweb,i started making techno(all digital) but have progressed to digital/analogue band type stuff, you start to get to grips with it and next thing you know months have passed and your still just scraping the surface,there are still things on it that i dont understand but as a very wise man once said"you dont have to know how an engine works to drive a car"

$4000 dollars and you would not sell it, talk about attached to an object. I do not know if I can think of any object that I own that I am attached to like that. Well, maybe my laptop (It is mine, no one can have it!) or perhaps my new headphones (I would get into a brawl over these). Hmm... You know, the only thing I could think I could cling to like that would probably be a new guitar (That PRS I want or the ESP!). No one could get that away from me.

Anyhow, other than those things above, lol. I guess I have more things I like than I thought. Oh, I also like Brandi, thanks for sending her to me, Irminsul.

I think these DJs want it for two reasons - it's "collector's synth" value and also its old fashioned fat, warm analog sounds that fits dance club music.

I can understand the first reason, but I get a kick out of the second one because modern synths and even VST plugins are just as fat or fatter than the old Jupiter.

I agree with the collector part, but if modern synthesizers have even fatter sounds, then why not just go for them? So yeah. Everyone has their reasons I suppose, no matter what the instrument. Why would a guy want to buy a 1968 Fender as opposed to just getting a new one? It is a collectors item and maybe they like something about the warmer tones, who knows.

I rather have mostly new gear, but maybe one day I will find something fairly old that I like more. I will wait and see.

Question, Irminsul, have you ever heard Coldplay's song "Rush of Blood to the Head," done live that is? Jonny Buckland (Lead guitar) is playing slide and using delay to get all of these dark sounds, where Chris Martin (Lead singer and rhythm guitar) is playing the darker chords. But I keep getting the feeling there is some kind of synthesizer going on in there, I cannot lay my hand on it, I do not think it is the bass making that sound (In fact, I can hear the sound the bass is making). So do you think there is a synthesizer in there? Or is it the lead guitar using the slide to reproduce those sounds?
