Where did you come up with this anti military stuff? Did you ever stop to think that maybe he concerned about his daughters future, (she must be about 20 something by now)

Gay rights,,,, I'm really not concerned with a few that keep throwing shiit up in my face like the word,,,, WORD,,, marriage. If a gay couple can obtain legal rights that is cool, if they want to keep trying to rub my nose in there alternative life style, that is NOT COOL. So there I'm pro gay rights to up to a point.

I'm very tolerant,,, slap me once I'll forgive you,,, Twice I'll kill you.

Get it.

Nobody could be anti-military and at the same time ...pull off an academy performance in Gran Torino the way Eastwood did... Nobody!

Dizzizz wrote:Eastwood has spoken out against the wars in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. He's said repeatedly that America shouldn't be the world policemen. That's what passes for "Anti-military" these days.

On gay rights, he's got this to say: "I don't give a f**k about who wants to get married to anybody else! Why not?! We're making a big deal out of things we shouldn't be making a deal out of ... Just give everybody the chance to have the life they want."

By the way, Paperdog, I don't know if we were watching the same movie, but Gran Torino's about as pro-military as Full Metal Jacket. It was a goddamn fantastic movie, and is one of my favorites, but a racist old man who is still haunted by what he did 50 years beforehand doesn't exactly paint the military in the best light.

I thought the beauty of that movies was how a racist old man came around to embrace what had once been the enemy. he resolved the haunting...In that respect, it was a brilliant display of character despite military brain washing... I have always contended (And I said this to an active duty Colonel, who was complaining about the low morale of his troops in Afghanistan) that if you want to see a rise in morale, consider teaching your men some 'honor". Even in a battle, the sense of honor behind every tactic and strategy makes you appear bigger to the enemy... "

The movie exemplified this trait. A bitter veteran, who under his own prevailing patriotism and sense of honor, rose above his own prejudices ... fought the real enemies accordingly, and even died for it. The ultimate gesture of sacrifice for a carefully chosen battle as opposed to attrition-seeking results.

On this I agree with you 100%

I don't know if you actually believe this, or if you are just repeating another great lie, but I feel the need to correct you, simply because elections have become so riddled with propaganda and misinformation that people are unknowingly voting against their own self-interests. Not everyone realizes or takes the time to look up sites like factcheck.com or non-partisan news articles. They are hard to find, I know that, but not impossible.

Anyways, the GM "bailout" was actually a government loan. It was not only paid back, but paid back in full and ahead of schedule. If you take the time to look it up, you will find dozens of partisan sites repeating the lie, but look closely at their other articles, and you will realize they do nothing much but lie. The banksters were given tax dollars, only a fraction of what they got was under TARP and paid back, there's somewhere around $11Tril dollars that went to banks from our treasury NOT under the TARP umbrella, and we can't even figure out where it went, much less how to ever get it back. Our congress and wall st hookwinked the whole country.

It's not productive to get your information from those types of sites. Again, find sites where the journalists back up their facts, cite references, etc. There's far too much opinion presented as fact in our media today.

Both Conservative and Liberal sites are guilty of this crap, so don't think I'm coming from a democrat angle- I'm registered green, so I have zero stake in the dems vs. reps arguments. If anything, I'm set on distancing myself as far from that charade as possible. But let's try to get our facts straight here.

and what "visions" were put forth at the rnc????? i saw a lot of flag waving and talk about family, about values, about everything BUT sharing their plans on how to move forward.

and not ONE word of thanks to our military???? shame on them.

glenny why DO YOU HATE AMERICA???? WHY DO YOU HATE OUR BRAVE MEN WOMEN WHO'VE GIVEN SO MUCH???? YOU SIR ARE A TRAITOR!!!!

folks might not agree w the dems "vision(s)" but at least they're not afraid to articulate them and put 'em out there at THEIR convention.

"The Federal Reserve was forced by Congress to disclose over 21000 transactions made between December 2007 and July 2010, which were previously unknown to Congress and the public. These secret transactions resulted in over 3.3 trillion dollars being loaned at nearly zero percent interest to foreign banks, foreign corporations, and corporations within the United States. The 3.3 trillion dollar loans were not made at the behest of Congress, because any bill passed, or any legislative process at all for that matter. The United States public was not aware of the $165 billion dollars given to the United Bank of Switzerland(UBS) nor did the general public know about the $97 billion dollars doled out to the Deutsche Bank in Germany." 8)
