SoundCloud is what I use for song hosting when I want to be able to have people listen to full WAV files without downloading, or be able to download songs for collaboration, or embed links for direct listening. I know others use SoundClick and participate in the whole 'ratings' thing they promote ("#10 rock-reggae-waltz song this week").
Reverbnation is a great promo site, where for free you can put bio, blog, gigs, MP3s, videos, etc. Of course they are constantly after you to buy their promo package deal, but you can ignore those messages unless you want to participate in one of thier contests.

I play lead guitar, and its all over my bm site,
from rock n roll to country. Can any of you pickers
play country, the second half of my song "Liquor Store Dope",
is just good souning basic country lead picking. While
"Death" is more rocking, or I have a video playing
rocking jazzy lead to a backing track.
Can you keep up?

Yea Lynard I can!

So what?

It really all comes back to what you want to play, not just showing off that you can cut someones head with your chops.

Hows the new gig going?

New gigs going fine, starting to learn
how ProTools is used to make music.

I'm nort showing off John those country
leads fit right into that song. I play all styles
sorry you took offense to my post, and thought
I was showing off.

I don't seem to come off very well in this forum,
and am probably worse in person.

I want to play music whatever kind it is on any instrument
available, but this does seem to be primarily a rock guitar
players forum, with a occasional drummer and bassists
sprinkled thru the mix.

I'm actually playing in 2 groups cause my old drummer
and dear friend just got out of detox and wants to play
so he comes over and we play with some other old friends.

Chill out man

well, i'm with you there. it's (almost) all good by me. i'm not any fan of top 40 country but i do enjoy the older stuff and have played in plenty of country and western swing bands. been playing dobro and mandolin in the same bluegrass band for about 7 or 8 yrs. play in two jazz bands. a duo that does bluesy folk.

hell, i'm your proverbial jerk(off) of all trades...master of none. as long as no children or animals are getting hurt... i figure it's all good.

Yeah I could but why bother. You have all this stuff stored on your computer and you can't create an MP3 and post it here.

You are one of the dumbest most arrogant non talented players I have ever seen. My drummer and I just canned a bass player twice as creative as you.

Why??? Because he was as nasty as you and just as arrogant.
I think you should go back and look at all those great videos of yours.

Isn't Missouri supposed to be the show me state? We are waiting?

Go learn some music.

Oh wow thanks! My plan is to have real instruments recorded soon. I also have some problems with phrasing and timing issues with guitar. It was a rough sketch but I am stoked that you liked it.

J,

I really really Like the way you bring in the the guitar rythm at time 1:00 and how that supports the lead runs... I am especially impressed with the way It juxtaposed the intro and elaboration (I believe PlanetGuy called it a confusion in a good way) The reason it reminds me of some of the dream theater is becus it actually is a tunefull piece an dthe arrangement works very well...

The only thing I would do is take away two bars of the main intro and jumt straight away to the Time 1:00 section : )

IMHO 8)

Great Job dude!

Damn right. You are not only not a player,,,, but the biggest aasshoole ever to fall in love with a president because he was a socialist , racist, out to teach those bad whiteys.

You better go practice,,, bending over and kissing your asss. Proof that at least one person loves you.

Yea I'm tired of you, I'm gonna have some fun.
By the way you are the worst bass player ever heard, boring, same pattern, (1,6,2,5) you have no talent and no balls. Lets have some fun now.

I'm way behind on pushing up new material. I've cranked out two CDs worth of songs in several genres tied together by my own sort ofweird perspective.

That was itself a lot of work and in the meantime I've switched from mostly bass to mostly guitar which was also a bit of work.

I wasted eight months tyring to break in a drummer who had recording skills. But sadly, lacked maturity on the drums. I was stupid to push it so long.

Getting my stuff recorded has been a hassle. i'm finally working with a guy who has the electronics chops that I lack (yes - there is life after Audacity) and who sings and plays guitar. His brother is weighing in on keyboards, vox, harp etc and my alltime favorite drummer (Chris Sherlock) has proposed some long range swapping of drums for bass.

So I keep slogging along. I no longer use the word 'hopefully' but I'm working to put up some quality product, not my late night drunken meanderings.

I've done it before and I think I'm still the real deal - that is breaking up my marriage by the way - but putting product out there in which I can take pride is taking me longer than I figured.

Excuses eh? Sickening really.
