There is no reason to call anyone names on this forum, certainly not over politics and the fact that none of us can do much more than vote and talk to our neighbors.

Ask yourself, what would Jeff do lol?

You are absolutely right Jimmy. Maybe you could pass that on to dane, jcp, planet, vinny, and that little 17 year old kid that knows everything but still hasn't left home.

Thanks Jimmy. By the way I really did enjoy that link about lost in the translation.

Good Glen. I think if ornery cusses like Jeff and I can be civil we all can! We can and still do disagree, but we could still have a beer together at the end of the day. Take a deep breath and enjoy life!

Damn Jimmy...I second that! :) (But I will still challenge you in a 'civil" way about your Democratic party philosophies... 8)

And for the record, I want to wave the white flag of peace with you too Jimmy. I have said some things in the past, which were not civil. I apologize and hope you can forgive :)

Well if you did I guess I've already forgotten. I'm quick to anger but also quick to forgive. We are all Americans and regardless of how this thing turns out we will survive and thrive!

Dane Ellis Allen wrote:you goota me to thinking about whether the serfs in the Middle Ages envied their lords or not? I will bet those serfs plowing all day and cutting brush were greatful just to have not quite enough to get by in the leaner years.. LOL!

That is a stupid analogy, but it proves my point.

THE REASON THEY WERE SERFS WAS THE HIGH TAXES they had to pay to the "lords" (government)

That is also exactly why people came to America, to escape the tyranny of their money being taken away by the "lords" (government)

Now your solution to our economy is a return to that system? C'mon guys....musicians are supposed to be higher critical thinkers. Don't fall for that propoganda.

Even if your false accusations about rich people were true (they are not), why is it a problem to (low level) Democrats that people can get rich in America and get to keep their money? What is wrong with keeping the money one has earned? Why do you think it belongs to someone who had nothing to do with earning it? The people giving you that message are filthy dirty rich and they aren't planning on losing any of it, but they want you to let them take more taxes and get richer. They have convinced you that it will come from someone else's pocket....sucker!

Still waiting to hear why you think giving more of YOUR money to a beauracrat of politicians is going to help anyone?

If Democrats get their way, we will all be serfs again. Will that make you happy?

We don't want to take it all away, we just want them to pay their fair share. Remember, this is not about raising taxes on the 1%, it's about letting tax breaks expire - they will return to the levels they should be. As Eva Longoria said last night, she's rich, so she can afford to pay her fair share. So should all patriotic Americans!

My problem with this Jimmy is that with the debt Obama is getting us into there is NO way they are going to be able to avoid raising ALL of our taxes! Its just too much! I am afraid when Bill Clinton said the other night that we all are going to have to pay our fair share. IMO thats the WARNING right there! Dems are going to HAVE to raise taxes. History shows that when you raise taxes in a recession it will TANK the economy. Right now we are on a slippery slope and I fear it will take very little to push our economy over the edge into an outright DEPRESSION! One that will be WAY worse than the Great Depression! For all of our sakes I hope this doesn't happen. Right now I just don't see how it can be avoided!

We have officially been out of the recession for a long time now (June 2009), even if it seems like we're not. Obama has stated numerous times that only those who make more than $250K will see a tax increase. You can believe him or not, but I don't think the man is a liar. He's a straight-shooter, let-the-chips-fall-where-they-may kind of guy. He supports the middle-class so fear not.

Haley having been around politics up close and personal its not a lie, its a compromise.

As far as I know we are still a democracy, and thats all about compromising at times for the good of the whole.

I watched Obamas speech last night and I dont think he came across that good, I mean Clinton could get relected from his speech, but Im not sure about Obama.

I hear all this help the middle class, which I guess I am, but I dont feel any better personally about things, I swear I wish we could just send everyone in Washington home for a couple of years. Put more power back to the states to run things, I know thats not possible.

I saw where the Obama daughters were flown in after school for the speech and then flown back home afterwards so they would not miss school, I wonder what that cost us?

I cant say Im a Romney fan either, but to me at least he has run business's he has actually done something in life, whereas to me, Obama, just kinda came out of nowhere. Yea he looks good, he cares and he can give a heck of a speech, but honestly the speech last night made it sound like he was begging for another chance more than a seated president should sound. He talks about money and the other side, well in his first election didnt he spend more money than any other candidate at that time?

He did hit one point right to me, we are all gonna suffer before things get better, I agree with him there.

By that statement he means higher taxes there is NO OTHER WAY! We are to far in debt and our credit rating has been downgraded thus increasing that "debt snowball" Most of the financial anylist are saying in order to fix this dept problem we have, we need to do it SOON in order to avoid SEVERE consequences!

Jimmy, with unemployment at 8.3% you must be living on a different planet if you believe the recession is over! Of course the whitehouse is saying the recession has BEEN over! Obama has to tell that lie or else!

yep...and living in a democracy you do give up the "right" to do whatever you want to whenever you want. sometimes that sucks but it's still the best game in town.

if you wanna do wtf you wanna whenever you wanna....go find yourself a cave on a nice deserted island somewhere.

I saw where the Obama daughters were flown in after school for the speech and then flown back home afterwards so they would not miss school, I wonder what that cost us?

well, i'm gonna guess it cost less than george w.'s grandstanding stunt when he parachuted onto that aircraft carrier. it's not like obama could have just bought a cpl of coach tkts for his daughters and flown them in and home on American Airlines on his dime.

I cant say Im a Romney fan either, but to me at least he has run business's he has actually done something in life,

it's all subjective isn't it? for many, romney's "business experience" is why he's reviled and not trusted by so many. HOW he "ran" business and how he's seen as a looter and corporate raider....capitalizing on putting folks out of work.....and then taking his bucks to overseas banks? points off.

....but honestly the speech last night made it sound like he was begging for another chance more than a seated president should sound.

and so we're back to "subjectivity" here. i didn't see or hear anything that remotely smelled of "begging" to me. i did hear him "ask" that we continue on the path he's set out...and i did hear him ask for another 4 yrs. no surprises there....who wouldn't expect that?

Did you sleep through world history class?

That is the EXACT same rhetoric used by Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot, Castro, etc...

I can't believe people still fall for it!?

Don't be stupid! Government is NEVER YOUR FRIEND. These liars know that rich people can't pay their bills, they know that the biggest pile of cash is in the middle class, so they get the ignorant masses all worked up in envy against the "rich" and then use them to do their bidding. The Democrats in Congress are all rich...they are not going to tax themselves. In clever language they will write legislation that screws all of us.

They will simply call it something else when it gets to you. A fee, a license, a toll, a penalty...whatever. Every person in America is paying at least 1/3 of our income to taxes, fees, tolls, licenses, etc.

Not only will you be taxed but it will be your own fault for being so naive.

God forbid that you'd ever do well in life! Tax policy dictates that there is no reason to make money since it won't come to you anyway.

THAT is why America has lost it's competitive edge. People who have the means will not just sit down and take it. Maryland raised taxes and everyone who had money left Maryland.

Outsourcing to other nations happened because idiots don't know how business works. Businesses are not in business to break even. You raise the price of doing business and they have to find a way to cut costs. Labor pensions and entitlement spending are the bane of our economic problems today.

The only "solutions" being offered by the Dumbacrats is more of the same things that got us here in the first place. It's insane!
