Thanks J I know what a good player you are.

Sorry if you are reading all this crap. I am not going to explain anything in regard to these guys that are just coming on to rip everyone a new one.

I kinda miss it when Jimmy comes on, At least he posted a great solo last week. He has a ceiling that is tolerable when it comes to disagreeing.

Sorry J, just ignore this BS.

I couldn't explain anything to you JC. They should take away your right to vote an give it to some illegal immigrant from Burma. Do you know where Burma is? Do you know about the last control freak that started killing the peaceful people of Burma.
No you don't. Why don't you just roll your crap up in a big joint and go smoke it.

You don't have a clue.

GLENNY J wrote: The best players don't think in scales and notes. Trumpet, flute , sax,,,, They think in very different ways than a stuck up bass player like you. You are so far from the real truth, you don't have a clue.

Real players KNOW there ax so good they only think about the musical expression that is already created in their mind and already sung with their soul, and then translated to there ax.
Dude You are not a musician when you try to spew this sh*t.
You are so hung up on notes and scales you will never ever be free to musically express anything.

Glenny, are you a fan of Derek Bailey? http://youtu.be/ow-YPRq-t8A

Somebody posted a link to a very early version of Stormy Weather a while back...before the pissing contest I think...

Here's a version done by Jeff Lynne, singer, guitar player and songwriter extraordinaire from ELO. Check out George Harrison's slide work, I just wish I could play slide like that. Harrison is one of the most accurate slide players I've ever heard. Never hear him hit a note even slightly off, and some of the most melodic stuff ever. As a friend said, he could play a solo that sounded like it just grew there...

Where to start? Check out some fairly easy tunes and try learning them.

Something I found a while back that I always remembered...

SRV played at a blues festival and sat in with BB King. He played everything he could think of, trying to stay onstage with the master. BB King took the lead and with the very first note Vaughn knew he had just been blown offstage. He asked BB later how did you do that? BB told him "Put everything you have into every note, make every note count".

If it doesn't say something it's just jamming...

Here's a great one, one of my favorite guitar players ever, Duanne Allman...

And a great blues tune, this is actually the song that got me into blues, this one and Statesboro Blues.

oh man, that's good for a belly laugh every time!

I thought Glenn did pretty good.

well, if someone nervously mangling EVERY tired and hackneyed blues cliche w no groove, no soul, and no tone garners points.....he scores pretty high.

gee-heeezus. i've known bandits who don't rush that much!

Wow ... the best blues guitar advice that the guy in this video could give would be like ... "Don't end up being an old wanker like me, that can't play a convincing blues for poo, but still thinks he's happening!"

<Sigh> Vinny, Vinny Vinny ...

When Planetguy issues a musical critique (regardless of whether he's right or wrong) , He has that luxury, simply because he's demonstrated some form of chops to back himself with. When Glenny issues a musical Critique (regardless of whether he's right or wrong), he has the luxury, simply because he also has demonstrated some form of chops to back himself.

When you issue a musical Critique, I'm not seeing the demonstration of chops that backs you up...

Do ya think its a tad hypocritical to slam musicians on prowess, when in fact youre delivering the punches from a position of prow-less-ness?

damn that's a cool phrase huh! The whole diatribe there was just so I could lay that out as the punchline :D

Geeze guys, I thought I explained it all before. My hair was so long that I couldn't look down at my guitar to see what I was playing.
I was to busy watching the 3 women pointing at my woody.
I have to learn to get over that. Go look again and you'll see what they were clapping at.
Next time I promise to look strictly at my guitar. Maybe I'll play much better.

Thanks for the help.

my guess is that if there were three people when you started playing.....there were none after the 4th or 5th out of time "rhythm" pat. and after the 20th out of tune bend....the staff probably wanted to jet as well.
