"Australian mining magnate Gina Rinehart (she makes a wage of $600 per minute .. oops! I mean, per second!) has criticised her country's economic performance and said Africans willing to work for $2 a day should be an inspiration."

Doesn't this whip up your patriotic fervor? We are better than that!!!
And to think some of them wussie liberals want a $10 minimum wage for American workers! Let's show the world our "true grit" and all agree to work for $1.75 per hour ... oops! I meant to say $1.75 per day!

We really should admire the 1%, after all they give us jobs ... right?

the trouble with the wealthy is many of them are descendants of successful relatives from past generations and are "old money" ..and probably would find their ancestors who made the fortunes were given "an equal opportunity" to become wealthy back in the 1800's when there was basically a "level playing field" now the problem with today's wealthy is to "shut the door" behind them and use their wealth to beat down the poor and lower middle class to make unfair trade practices etc. to not allow anybody to compete... or to become wealthy.. like walmart able to buy 5,000 train car loads of product at one time to get the purchase price down to real good values and little merchants can't compete with that.. trouble is walmart jacks there prices up cause there ain't no competition top speak of nowadays..this example goes for the auto industry, railroads, chemical/petroleum industry, bio-science what have you..

All true.

But their greatest achievement by far is how they convinced a majority of people to believe their enemy is "libruls", social progressives, and populists, when those are the only people who would be able to help the common worker bargain for a real, livable wage.

Ignorance in this world is at crisis levels. And nothing will ever change so long as the ignorant continue to accept a life of begging for increasingly diminishing table scraps from their corporate masters.

Yes, it is an amazing achievement ... anyone advocating a livable wage for workers is seen as a totalitarian communist trying to destroy the social order, and just plain un-American.

This is from another story about Ms. Rinehart, I think it helps to illustrate how it is that they are able to convince a majority of people:

"Along with her mining interests, she now owns a share of Channel Ten, one of the three major commercial television networks, and has also become the single biggest shareholder in Australia's second largest newspaper group, Fairfax Media, although she reduced the size of that stake last week.

The group publishes three of the country's most venerable mastheads - the Sydney Morning Herald, the Melbourne Age and the Australian Financial Review, and the suspicion among many Fairfax journalists is that she will attempt to turn them into mouthpieces for her right-wing views.

The dark joke is that the Sydney Morning Herald might become the Sydney Mining Herald. However, she has not been able to gain seats on the board because of a dispute about her refusal so far to accept the group's declaration of editorial independence." - By Nick Bryant, Sydney

Vinny, That's just Bullshit... You know darn good and well that nobody is against living wages... You also know that those who make more than a living wage are always the targets of whiners and envious assholes who cant muster up the wits and get off of their lazy asses to earn their own wealth. Instead they have to put other down, and 'regulate " their earnings... I Say f**k 'em... Of course, I'll have to charge them a fee...

instead of reading about them, you should come to DC and work for them,

very quickly you will learn that these people want servants, servants at their beckon call.
and they get pissed if these servants should have enough money in their pocket to refuse to be humiliated on a daily basis.

realistically this is the only fight that's going on today.

"if you will stand for that, you will kneel for this."

The lady gets $2,160,000 per hour and she says workers should take inspiration from Africans that work for $2 a day and compares it to the Olympics ...

I totally agree... I have first hand experience, in DC with a client and an affiliated PM who was really caught up in his own exhaust fumes. I had money in my pocket and my parting words to him, before I walked away from his project was... "Dont worry 'sir', I wont leave you hanging..I'll have the task completed by next week...Lord knows none of you guys could get ever get it done..." I suppose by now he's prolly a candidate for a stroke, given all the pressure that DC imposes on him

I suppose she could have stated it differently... like " All you 12 dollar an hour beeyotches should be damn thankful you arent an African worker that only gets paid $2 a day" I really think , this is what she was trying to parlay , but not as impolitely as I would have said it.

So to the 12 dollar an hour whiners...Stop yer whining and get busy improving other marketable skills ... And Vinny.... for the record...in that same article about her, she patently states that anyone has an opportunity to get wealthy, but they need to 'work' at it... I believe she was politely insinuating that they should get up off of their fat, lazy, ignorant asses and be productive in ways that count...
