id say Marty Friedman is pretty under-rated! you dont hear him as much as you should!

Roy Buchanan-not a high percent of the general public even knows who he is.
Sammy Lawhorn-Get "Junior Wells On Tap" CD. Sammy's solos on some of the tunes, Key To the Highway for example, are off the chart picturesque solos, as good a blues guitar playing as you'll ever hear.
Tinsly Ellis-Smoking hot blues/rock guitarist, one of the hottest I ever saw live.
There's a bunch of underrated guitarists. These are a few that I enjoy.

yeah lenny breau! great all around player but his use of harmonics was just jaw dropping. and while we're speaking of great jazzers who've passed...i'd add ted greene to the list of unknowns/underappreciated.

i'll stick w a few other gtrsts who i think are deserving of wider recognition....

I'm with Josh on Marty Friedman. Since I like metal and classical I'll add Alexi Laiho who sometimes combines the two.

Fortunately, the listening audiance is large enough now that players like the ones mentioned on this thread can find a niche and eke out a living.
