Black Sabbath were originally called The Polka Tulk Blues Company, then just Polka Tulk, and then "Earth". They got confused with another band called "Earth". Later their bassist, guy named Geezer something, threw out the name "Black Sabbath" because he had just started reading a book on the occult. Ozzy took it from there.

And for the record, that was nothing like the odyssey that Ian Anderson went through to arrive at "Jethro Tull". They got their name when one of their booking agents (who was a history buff) just dropped it on them from a whim.

What was I talking about? All I said was that I thought "Blue Cheer" looked dead. The singer looks like the dead awake. Like the music just looks like the Blue Cheer Dead is all.

Looks like they're alive and well to me, but you're entitled top your opinion, I don't have a problem with it.

I think irmy was just explaining the difference in the way the two bands got their names, and expanding on the point about sabbath.

Blue Oyster Cult was originally Soft White Underbelly...but I have no idea how they came by either name...

Man I must say that is a strange name Blue Oyster Cult had before they became who they were. Here is what I would say if someone suggested that name to me:

Person 1: I have a new band name for us!
Me: What is it?
Person 1: Soft White Underbelly!
Me: ... I think you should go take a couple more hits of those drugs you have been taking..
Person 1: Bad name?
Me: Might as well just name the band Whale Blubber...

Lmao.

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

I seem to recall a band called "The Moon Dogs" featuring a couple of of half decent song writers known as "The Nurk Twins". I've been told they changed their names and were quite sussesful. Can any one help me out?

TO GET BACK ON TOPIC,
Are there any other "theremin" players out there besides myself?

WEGMAN
Forgive me for "highjacking your thread",but My Lady and I are having one heck of a time getting audio unto my Bandmix profile.
Also if this has been discussed we couldnt find the thread.

We have a Compaq Presario running Windows XP .

I found a CD-r of a fairly recent (2 years ago) live performance off my last band.

We loaded both Audacity and exact audio copy. I understand we need Lame.exe to rip the audio from the cd to the MP3 format. Everytime we to try load Lame, it doesnt seem to show up when I browse to load it into EAC.
Can someone tell us what we are do wrong? Is it really this complicated? LOL
thanks

Use this instead. It's free and works awesome. This is what I use for my file conversion needs.

Hi Mrs Howlin.

Look at the name of the the program your trying to use, doesn't look good right from the start. :D

Switch works very well, I think it will get the job done for you.

Haha, just save lame to your desktop; then record something and use the file menu on the left>export as MP3, and Audacity will find the lame file and thats it, it may ask you to unzip it for it to install (it's been so long i forget) and thats it; a one time thing, now it will automatically convert to mp3 when you want it to.

You know, not to be off topic or anything. But audio programs can be confusing. Audacity is pretty simple, but go look at Adobe's "Audition." Ah! Lol. I downloaded it once, tried the trial, almost checked myself into an institution. It confused me, I know nothing about that kind of stuff. I messed with it for a bit, added some effects. That was about it for me, lol. I really got to study that stuff more, that way when I go to edit my own audio files I do not go into some kind of perplexed state of mind.

Being on topic, I am not someone who is something other than a guitarist, but as I have mentioned many times, I do wish to play the "Oud." First though I will learn the piano, and bass guitar (Probably at the same time). Then I might move onto the oud, and maybe someday, big maybe, the violin. I love music, so the more the better. I just wish I could do the same with languages. :?

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

My mother's former drummer used to play with Bruce Springsteen in Asbury Park, NJ when he was coming up. Two of the names they played under...

Dr. Zoom and the Sonic Boom

Thunder Chicken

I have a full blown version of Cubase that i haven't even bothered to install. I'm hesitant because i don't want to get hooked on playing with all the things you can do with it, i was warned that it's easy to get caught up in; not only that, it looks (from the manual) that you could spend a liftime and still have some stuff to find on it. sooooo....

If i ever get to where i want or need to multi-track then i'll give it a go.

I know what you mean, Franny. It reminds me of how I would get if I went back to video games (I get hooked every time I start again! Must avoid it at all cost, lol). Some of these things take forever to learn, but can be so addicting you cannot stop. Actually, I find that with my guitar. I am so addicted I could never put it down, and if I do for too long I freak the heck out. Plus it is a very hard instrument to master (As is any instrument).

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.
