I've had this horrible lowered lung capacity lately, by process of elimination we're down to perhaps a huge increase in my allergies and I may be developing asthma. That's the theory we're working on. My naturopath prescribed various herbals, took my first dose, kind of feel some relief already. A few of her patients have had huge episodes of poison ivy where they normally recover quickly. This epic drought has dried out all the vegetation which gives off a lot more stuff when it's windy. Apparently I can't handle all the increase of stuff in the air. I notice especially when I'm outside, which is often, I start to lose my wind quickly, whereas when I'm in air conditioning I feel more at ease. Bottom line is I can't take drought and high heat, my lungs feel awful.

I heard this theory somewhere the other day about why "evilair" is so bad at least here in the heartland, and that's because the drought has killed or made dormant so much vegetation that the oxygen level is effected by that...remember, without plants not as much oxygen gets produced, they breathe carbon dioxide and expel oxygen..yes, I think algae produces the most but the drought is dangerous in more ways than one....seeing that cattleman cry on the local news tonight complaining about the stress this drought has put on him made me eyes get moist.. hauling water to his cattle is stressing him out, it's all he knows... he was a little older looking than me and can't start over again..

this evil air thread could be a good reminder of why the Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Democratic principles of a reason we need welfare and social programs, to alleviate the suffering of those truly in need of assistance..a safety net would be a good word for it..right now the Federal government is paying up to 50% for new wells being drilled since the state money has run out.. but as I mentioned the crying farmer in the previous post, he is the same guy who said we need thousands of wells drilled here in Missouri but you and I both know there are only a handful of those people that are in the well drilling business, and it takes days to drill a well... my well is 270 ft. deep and cost $2400.00 in 1992.. the pump was another $900.00 so you can see the Feds are gonna be shelling out some big money with this well drilling program.. sorry for hijacking your thread and leaving spore on it..har har

. Already had a lung xray, nothing indicated. Went to the emergency room three weeks ago, chest xray, EKG, brain scan, negative. Went to an experienced internal medicine expert, baffled. A naturopah IS a doctor. I've been going to her for years. She has solved two very severe problems the mainstream doctors couldn't. I don't trust the mainstream doctors, you're in and out.. If they can't figure out a prescription or surgery they have no clue beyond that. The Chinese herbalists have a much better understanding of body chemistry, allergies, body pH, electro-balance, etc. Etc. Everything in our system is pills and surgery. People get on pill after pill after pill, side effect after side effect etc. I'm scared to death of going to a hospital, they are full of staph, c-diff, all kinds of infectious agents they cannot control. No, give me a knowledgable holistic doctor or chiropractor any day of the week.

Bob, you're right and the drought can leave a lot of gunk in the air that will set off an asthmatic condition. For instance, whenever I go down to Escondido, California, I have a horrible asthmatic condition. I don't know what trees or vegetation is down there, but I'm wheezing and struggling to breathe and sucking on my inhaler for dear life - and it's only there! And the other place is up north in Ventura. Whenever the fog rolls in, my asthma gets started.

I don't normally suffer asthma, only there and around cats. I can go camp out and hike in the forest without any problems. There's some plants in that area that just set me off and leave me horribly sick and unable to breathe. When in Ventura, my inhaler didn't work and I had to go to the emergency room.

Well If they didn't find anything wrong, That's great news... A few years ago I underwent a minor traumatic health issue... Got over it pretty much, but noticed that I had trouble catching my breath. AT first they thought I had COPD, (Due to smoking).. But I had quit, and my lungs were clear. So, Why the dizziness, and shortness of breath? They did a lot of blood work, and tests...Nada! Then I went to a Neurologist... His diagnosis? Anxiety. I had been frequently hyperventilating and didn't even know it... His fort question was about my job...then about home life etc... My job was tumultuous (Still is) So He prescribed a relaxant ... I took it for about two months ...and from that point on I never had the breathing issues again... . Every once in a while I'll get my anxiety up ...but because I am aware, It gets quelled pretty fast...

Yep, and your only recourse is they might give you a nebulizer and inhaler to get you through. Allergy medicine doesn't work. I've tried it and it does absolutely squat.

Anxiety is horrible. I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety/Panic Disorder and it can mimic many things. I've had episodes where I get chest pain, sweating and a sense of doom - all indications of a heart attack. I have a file about five inches thick with all the EKGs I've had of me racing to the ER, and swearing I'm having a heart attack. My doctor threatned me once that if I did it one more time, he was going to commit me to a hospital. I also wasn't on the right medication either. I am now, but I still wound up running to the hospital last year and thought I was having a heart attack again because my heart stopped beating then started again real fast. Nothing showed on the EKG. This was a new insurer so they don't have my past history. Ha ha.

Prescription allergy meds might do squat, I'm on herbal allergy meds, already helping. I don't trust prescriptions as far as I can flush them down a toilet.
