I have always LOVED Elton John and Danny Gatton! not necessarily in that order. Elton=tunesmith Danny=virtuoso! My point is IMO you don't have to be Danny Gatton, Yngvie Malmsteen, Joe Satrianni, Eric Johnson to write a GREAT song!

One of my all time favorite songs is "Funeral For A Friend"

I couldn't agree more,
actually danny and those you mention are for the most part very poor song writers.

The whole Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album is a masterpiece.. you don't need a showboat guitarist to create good art..

"Funeral For A Friend" is way more complex and orchestrated, than Danny Gatton rubbing one out with his guitar..

I have always said "I don't care" if you are queer, lesbian, mexican, black, if you are a good musician and pro enough to put your belief about Native american scotch irish german conservative cracker such as myself we can jam and make some music! In other words if you'll play music with me I'll play music with you I don't care WHAT YOU ARE! It goes the same for when I set down and listen to music for my own enjoyment! Too many folks say "I don't like female voices" or "that song only has 3 chords"

well you might have relate-able references to holding your gay dead lover,
hacking out his life after catching AIDS in dark club;
but I do not, so i guess I cannot relate.
but you go right on, don't mind me.

dude, I thought maybe you had let up, but guess I was wrong.. I could care less if you are gay, but don't make an issue about it, as though you were obsessed with the notion of the gay lifestyle,.. really... I am starting to think you fantasize about the gay lifestyle since you mention it so much.. did you not quote Hitler some time back? thinking he was a virtuous guy or something? if so, I know Hitler murdered gays left and right, although many gays were in the Brownshirts, Hitler had the leader of the Brownshirts shot., but shows the 2 faced nature of Hitler the beast, he could tolerate gays too if it meant further advancement of his ideals...
