SO...I sent the check back to him along with a nice note thanking him for his kindness but letting him know I am not playing with Les any longer thus I couldn't really take his money in good faith.

Do you know some people just kind of make me scratch my head?

He called me on the phone after dinner and we had a nice chat.

Long story short, he's sending me a "Black face Fender Super Reverb".
He says whatever type of amp I am using now is not "doing the music justice".

I laughed and told him to "send it asap".

He asked me if we ever did any "Steppenwolf" and I about crapped.
Not with Les, but with the earlier bunch oh yeah we did..

"Foggy Mental Breakdown" is a great place to live...come on in the water is fine...

I hear that rotary organ and it's like walking into a place you know very well..lol

Hear me holler cross the sea of light
It took my dream and smashed it 'gainst the night
Hear me holler at the town below
Got nothing left to make me stay and no place left to go

Wow, Cap'n, but I think you did the right thing. I wonder what's really up with him that he trusted you enough to send you a live check and not really know you. I agree with everyone else that it isn't a lot of money.

I hope he keeps his word and sends you the Fender thingy.

It's all good in and out of the hood..lol

I know him very basically from a concert event that he was promoting down MO way. He wanted us to come and play it last year but as with most things, I couldn't get my crew down there without a scene, so it didn't happen.

Evidently he was checking out the websites etc. and felt like he had an extra 1k??!!?? (LOL)(wish I was him)(he must be rolling the ducats)
He keeps trying to get me to come down and record, I maintain "it's too far".

As for the amp? WEll sheet..if he sends it, that's fine. If not, that's fine as well. I feel like a pseudo prom queen for a minute. LOL Ok, it's over..

But after being dicked with and barely being able to get into MY own notebook to record MY music, it feels good to have someone cater to you for a sec and treat you like someone they want to see perform.

It really pissed me off when I found out that I wouldn't be playing C.Levitt in Sept. Worse though was I couldn't even if I wanted to due to "the urge to have fun during the summer". I don't mind having fun, but there is definitely a time and a place for everything.

Keep your priorities close because that's the first thing to fall away when you want something other than the standard fun du jour.

Heck, since he wants you so bad, why don't go down his way and record if you can? If he's offering 1K, tell him you can put something together if he'll add in your gas (current IRS rate $0.55/mile), food and put you up in a hotel. He obviously digs your music. I mean if that alki client that my old man has can sucker some people into investing thousands of dollars into him (90% of which he drinks away which he calls "promotin'"), I think you could have something here.

a Greyhound ticket can't be that much from the east coast to Missouri, and you can put your gear onto the bus too..Greyhound has cheap freight forwarding

YIKES, I am a bit more than nervous when it comes down to "stick your strat on the bus and come on down".

I could be stuck in MO and I know you guys are decent fellows, but I always try to stay in a situation where I am never dependent on anyone else. (Besides when you depend on your friends, you find out who the really good ones are and who the not so good ones are, personally that's more than I care to know. lol)

Yeah I live like a douche but I don't have people crawling up my pants looking for $.

And yeah LD, I'd be mowing and bailing hay.. I do that sometimes up here.
I almost broke my leg the other day because we were bailing hay and my one leg went through the floor of the hay wagon. The guy driving the tractor never even heard me screaming. (gulp)
It's a good thing too, as I have no major medical.. (ecchhuuhhhhh)

He was mad later, he asked me if I put that hole in the bed of his hay truck on purpose. I just looked at him and didn't know what to say to him.

ON the outside looking in, I got 3 more offers to play bass for money.
None were more than 100$ a night, which is the most basic level of the requirement. (that and I have to like what you are playing)

I did, however, meet a guy from Marsupial Productions. He plays some mean keys and I am trying to get with him to see if we can finish some materials I was writing before the last keys player went belly up on me.

I told him that I like to write quickly and he was enthusiastic. He told me the line I always tend to use, "the more time elapsed between when you last touched your song and when you finished it, the more likely the piece
will not be the same. (I like "won't have the same continuity as if it was concluded the day it was conceived")

I agree with that Mr Scott, about the more
time elapsed between the last time you touched
your song, only it could be good or bad. Sometimes
sitting a song back and then revisiting it later is
a good thing, and other times, I say I see why I sat
this one back.

Ever hear that diddy about your first answer has the most probability to being correct?

Go with your gut and finish what you start.

If you are wrong, go on and try again.
It's a trial by fire..

If you think about it too much, it changes.
Sometimes that change is good, but it's still change..

Finish your creative constructs quickly to eliminate change and maintain continuity.

Yeah Capt'n, you could get stuck down there. Like Cheach Marin in "Born In East L.A." what a nightmare his character had in that movie!

lol Heeeyy now, I don't collect anything from anyone..especially our shitty govt.

I may be on the lean side, but I am not suckling the teet of the proletariat.

You have to be resourceful, not dependent. !!!

(Soon as civilization collapses, Penicillin will be going for at least 1 cow per bottle. ... You sick? Well then I got beef. LOL)
