All the comments on the first one seemed to be very generic, too.
almost like "click fraud" but probably a legitimate service?

Instead of doing that, he'd be better off getting fans and followers. If you're trying to get gigs, promoters, labels, and clubowners look at how many fans you have on places like Reverbnation, Soundcloud, Jango, and a few others. You Tube is great for videos, but what really counts is having an active website where you can regularly correspond with your fans. That's what the industry looks at - and it isn't so much about labels, if you're trying to get gigs out of town or get on a festival, this is what the organizers look at.
from my past experience, playing live venues made the most sense to get a following, but in today's world I don't know what makes most sense.. I am not in a position to play music since running a business as a sole-proprietor takes up many more hours than a standard 40 hour a week job.. and now that I said that, I'm looking at the wasted time I've spent mouthing off to everybody and now feeling foolish since my income went down this past week spending too much time at this forum commenting on things, I know some here are "on the clock" but I ain't so too-da-loo for now..

Today's entertainment demands firer-eaters and sword swallowers, who can growl and do handstands without much rehearsal. That's the only thing that will legally draw in big bucks.

If I am to be honest with myself, at my age, I participate, relatively speaking, on a minuscule scale..and its really out of vanity, that I do this stuff at all. Sort of like a mid-life crisis, only without all the chicks and who's who parties...lol! If i put myself in the shoes of a bonafide big-league promoter, what he or she looks for is that mother-load circus act or prodigy. One look at me, and he/she sees just another dead horse.

But its okay... Long time ago, I made a decision to not make a living at music. For one to 'make it big' in music , on cannot resign to music as a hobby... 8)

It's worse for women because if we're not some cute, young, thing, the industry wants nothing to do with you. And I hate to get racial here, but you notice that you only have like Rihanna, Bouncy, and Nikki Minaj coloring the major pop business now? Now that white singers can sound like old black ladies, we've been pushed to side. I got pushed to the side anyway because I never did sound black enough for anyone. So I've always been forced to make my own way and I never had a chance when I started. When I was younger, no one wanted a singer with pimples, baby fat, and braces, so I was jacked all around - had nothing to do with how well you could sing.

Why I keep doing it? I don't know how to quit. It's like a bad drug habit that you're always planning your next song, your next CD, your next band, your next gig. It's not the drugs that wears your body out, it's all the sick hope that you cleave to, foolishly thinking that you can make a difference, even when you lie to everyone that you're just doing it for fun and don't care - yeah, right. I'll probably still be in spandex when I'm 70, looking like a washed out, coffee colored Steven Tyler and folks snickering and professionals shaking their heads like I'm a bad joke. All because I just don't know how to quit.

At least I have a cane to prop me up.

that was me that left the 1st comment on your u-tube video page doing the Alanis Morrisette tune.. it almost moved me to tears seeing the conviction you were singing with.. if I could add anything positive to your band I surely would, since there is no reason with a voice as good as yours you should not be a top 40 musical act.. there was a lot of emotion in that performance... and like I believe KLUGMO said, you went back to normal after the last note was sung..

at the risk Chaeya of making you feel uncomfortable, I would give up my business to get back into music, if I had a chance to work with someone of your caliber and talent.. trouble is, talent like you is few and far in between here in Half Way, Mo. and it would take someone like you to shake off all the not so good memories of trying to put bands together from scratch.. starting from scratch and trying to put a band together is something I never like to look forward to unless I see the talent there in the 1st place... tired of trying to grow mediocre players and singers into marketable musicians/vocalists.. you are at several levels above mediocrity .. I would even play bass.. and Branson is too far away too

Thanks, Dane, you didn't make me feel uncomfortable, your comment warmed my heart. I also will tell you that I grew up in St. Louis and I know Branson well, as we have vacationed down there a few times. It does suck being so far away. But if I ever make it close to you or you makeit close to me, let's look each other up. 8)

LD,
I'm happy for you man... regardless of how many views or how... who gives a chit...
if you dig it and have a good time that's all that's gonna matter.
Kind of a blend of Hard Rock and New country in the sound. I hope they give you some room to add your own to it.
From some of the songs I've heard of yours they should eventually be willing to work some of your tunes into the mix.
At least "Liquor store dope". Love that tune!
But fix that intro and outro... Poke her in the ReaR! 8)

Thanks Jahva, your comments are appreciated.

If I've learned anyrhing from this forum, it's
that you have to have thick skin on this site.

I just enjoy playing with talented players, that are as
ate up with playing as I am. I didn't realize that having
a extremely talented marketing person in your group
was a detriment.

Thanks for the props on Liquor Store Dope, I have started
writing with this new group.

It seems it's just like when I was in business, some people
don't want to see you exceed.

Thanks to all friends here on BM for your comments.

There's not another forum like this in the world, with such a
great group of musicians.

I'm hard to get along with, but loyal to the end.

Well Lee you are an asshole, but you know that!

I just think its cool youve found something that you want to do musically with some folks that are doing more than just making noise in the garage.

This is a musical community site, with people from all over, different skill levels, etc etc, I feel we as a group should support members in thier musical endeavers, not shoot them down for hits or all that BS. I think sometimes those remarks just come from jealousy of some sort.

As for me I want you to ride that horse til it breaks down on you, just make sure to share any ideas for the community here, that might help others in thier own quest.

Thanks John, I'm really making a effort to
change my assholeishness ways, but old
habits are hard to break.

I will try to share any musical bits and pieces I
pickup, cause Lord knows I've sure picked a lot
of good advice up from this site.

Thank You, I need to concentrate on the positive,
and laugh the negative off. (Big words from someone
who likes using one-liners.)
