Instead of doing that, he'd be better off getting fans and followers. If you're trying to get gigs, promoters, labels, and clubowners look at how many fans you have on places like Reverbnation, Soundcloud, Jango, and a few others. You Tube is great for videos, but what really counts is having an active website where you can regularly correspond with your fans. That's what the industry looks at - and it isn't so much about labels, if you're trying to get gigs out of town or get on a festival, this is what the organizers look at.
